  1. Well, my Porsche let me down again, big time. A little backstory, I have a 2002 Porsche 996 C4S, Tiptronic. Shortly after I purchased it in 2018, at around 75K miles the engine failed. Specifically one of the intake valve seats on Cylinder 3 dropped, broke in 2 pieces and caused all sort of damage. I considered my options with a local Porsche shop and decided to get a new shortblock from Porsche and a used cylinder head for bank 1. The cylinder head on bank 2 was sent to the machine shop as well, and then the engine was put back together. Well, not about 15k miles later (very little driving during COVID), the car would give me a periodic misfire on cylinder 2 and/or 3, but it was intermittent and I tried to chase down a few things. Anyhow, my wife was driving the other day and a few miles from home she said the car started shaking and shut off. Well, I decided to do some diagnostic work and stuck a small camera into the intake manifold. Low and behold, the picture below is what I see in the bank 1 intake manifold (this is a few inches to the left of the throttle body, before the intake branches into each cylinder). Anybody want to take a guess as to what that is. Looks metal to me. I will take out the spark plugs and do some more investigation into each cylinder when I get a chance, but thought I'd ask the experts here what I may be dealing with. Just FYI, the car is a tiptronic so it can't over-rev.
  2. So I just wanted to provide an update here. I reached out to Durametric and they said none of their versions (pro or enthusiast) has this function and there are no plans to add it either in future updates. I am disappointed. I thought the durametric would be all I need, but now I have to find some other option. If I was going to buy a PIWIS or something else in that price range, why do I need a durametric? Anyhow, does anyone know if there are other scan tools out there (Autel, Foxwell, etc.) that may have this functionality? I emptied my tank completely and was ready to do this calibration by the book only to be dissapointed by durametric.
  3. I just wanted to provide an update for those that may run into this thread in the future. I can't find the part number for this bracket, and it doesn't seem like the Porsche dealer can either (perhaps someone here is better than my local dealer). However, I did a bit of a hack job using a BMW part # 11537555977. See the pictures below, it is pretty obvious what I did. This bracket already comes with 1 hole and I drilled another one then I drilled a hole in the little bracket coming off the coolant tank. It doesn't look pretty, but looks perfectly functional and will serve the purpose.
  4. I want to do the calibration but don't understand how to do it in durametric. I have the enthusiast version, but when I go to the cluster module I don't see an option for fuel tank calibration. I have an option to turn on various lights and sounds on the cluster or to reset the cluster (I don't know what a reset means), but no option for fuel tank calibration. Has someone done it with durametric, and if so, how?
  5. Thanks guys. I doubt any junk yard will want to sell just this bracket, and I am not going to pay $50 or more for a used coolant tank just to get this bracket. This is not a critical component, so I'll rig something up with zipties for now.
  6. Just an update, I've asked FCP Euro to look into this and they told me that they can't find a part number either. Curious if anyone here has access to a dealer parts lookup software. Not sure if that is any more comprehensive or not.
  7. So I did a bit more digging and found a picture of a used tank with this bracket (circled in red). However, I can't find the bracket in the Porsche catalog. Anyone know the part number?
  8. I have a 2002 C4S and I noticed that my fuel line that goes to the fuel rail is rubbing on the coolant tank. See picture, circled in red. This is obviously not supposed to happen. Is there a clip that is supposed to attach to the coolant tank to prevent the fuel line from rubbing? I looked through the Porsche catalog and can't find one. My motor has been removed in the past and I am assuming that the mechanic doing it wasn't particularly careful and didn't put a clip or bracket back in. At this point if I can't get the correct clip then I can come up with other solutions, such as trimming the tab on the coolant tank that is actually rubbing ( not sure why the tab is there in the first place) or fabricating something. However, I would prefer to use a Porsche part if possible. Any advice from the experts is appreciated.
  9. I am missing the plastic brace holding the EVAP solenoid (car is 2002, Tiptronic). See the circled in red in the picture. I've looked around the Porsche catalog but can't seem to find it and my EVAP solenoid is flopping around. I can rig something up, but would ideally like to get the factory part instead.
  10. Any advice on pulling rear side panel on a 2002 C4S? I plan on running a backup camera wiring. Thanks.
