I have this creaking noise when turning the steering wheel at low speeds and comes up only after the car's been warmed up and driven around for some time.

You think the inner/outer tie rod end replacement would rid of the noise?

I have the same thing. My tech thinks it's tie rod ends too.

I'm pretty interested in this too. I went for manual air con due to the sales brochure stating you have the ability to set different temperatures for the upper and lower cabin areas. After looking long and hard and asking my local dealer, it seems this is not the case so I want to go for a climate upgrade. Loren's diagram is the correct unit for my car but doesn't climate need more than just a new control unit ?

It's not cost effective. I ended up getting a different car for my client.

M573 is Air Conditioning.

Does your car have AC?

AC is standard. 573 lets you set a temperature and the climate control keeps it ( Climatronic ).

Where the standard is is just low-high temp and fan speed.

Our Porsche mechanic is ripping apart two cars right now to find out if it's possible. Wiring diagrams were too hard to read. I thought maybe someone here has tried it.

For the past few weeks my PSM Off and ABS lights have been on, intermitedly (sp?). Sometimes they're on, then the next time I start the car they won't be. Anyone else have this? Anything I can check? I'm about due for a 30k service, but I was planning on doing it myself. I'd like to avoid a trip to the Stealer.

I can only speak out about the hardtop for the cab. A few years a ago a mouse decided to make a nest in mine and I had to replace the insulation under the headliner. It's one piece, probably weighs between 3 and 5 pounds.

Flocking panel is a plastic panel at the front most part of the soft top. You notice the front part of the soft top is solid, w a panel under the canvass. That's the flocking panel. It can warp due to heat when parked outside and cause lots of noise with the headers.

Porsche also updated the mounting hardware in 2002 ( I think?). When my car was still under the factory warranty I complained about it and they updated the hardware - it made a big difference.

There's also this one I just "upgraded" to. Same deal as CGT key head, you need to swap out blade and internals.

I used it in my old 911 ('82) when I lived in Minnesota, worked fine. I'd always top off the gas before I stored it so no moisture would accumulate and then in spring top it off with fresh gas after a 1/4 tank or so.

It works well on windows too.

Replace the stock battery with a gel type Optima Red Top, save weight and all the cons associated with fluids in it. Plus they last longer. Look in the DYI section for instructions or do a search.

My car has about 3 weeks left on the warranty. 2001 22k miles. RMS has been replaced 3 times - the last was about 3 months ago. Also replaced MAF, and PCM. I plan on keeping this car a long time. Does Porsche offer an extended warranty? Should I go w/a third party? Or take my chances? $2,500 for two years seems like a lot.
