  1. OK, I will do that then. Thanks for the quick replies.
  2. Removed the coils to replace them, and noticed that the old screws seem to have thread lock on them (that blue dry type). The new longer screws, that came with the Beru ZS178 coils, don't have any thread lock. Should I use medium Loctite? Doesn't say so in the Work Shop Manual I have.
  3. Bringing up an old topic. So the torque for the M12 bolt is 85 Nm, but what is the torque for the top M8 bolts?

    Oil Filter Lid

OK, good. Now I know how it should be put together. Yes, I replaced the small o-ring as well. I'll take the lid off and put it together correctly.

    Oil Filter Lid

Changed the oil on my 996 Mk2 GT3 this weekend. When removing the oil filter lid, the filter and the plastic part inside the filter, did not come out with the lid itself, but stayed in the filter housing. When I put it back again, I put the plastic part and the new filter in the housing, before I screwed the lid back on. I now understand that the plastic part inside the filter should be attached to the lid, isn't that so? Are they snapped together? Guess I have to remove everything again, to see if I can get the lid correctly assembled or if it´s broken, buy a new one. Did anyone else have the same experience?
  6. Great, thanks for the quick reply. Is the 2003 revision available for download somewhere?
  7. In the DIY tutorial here the torque for the crankcase oil drain plug is 52 ft-lb. The Porsche Manual for the Mk1 GT3 says 44 ft-lb, same as the plug on the oil tank. What is the correct torque for the crankcase plug on a 996 Mk2 GT3? Is there a difference between Mk1 and Mk2, sounds strange?
  8. Yeah, I just read in the workshop manual that the high pitch one can be replaced without removing the front.
  9. Are the horns soo bad, that both of them can stop working after 39000km (24200 miles) and 7 years?
  10. They, or at least one of them, worked not too long before I put the car in for the winter. But maybe you're right. Maybe they weren't working before I installed the Cruise Control. You have to take front off to get to them, right?
  11. OK. So the two horns could be broken, or there is no current to the horns even though I hear a relay clicking when pressing on the steering wheel. I find it unlikely that both horns would break at the same time. I'm having the reprogramming done on monday. Maybe that will make it work again.
  12. I've just done the cruise control installation on my 2004 GT3, but I haven't had the reprogramming done yet. The strange thing is that now the horn doesn't work. If I leave the front hood open it beeps, so the horn itself is OK. I can also hear a relay clicking when I press on the steering wheel, so I guess the wiring in the steering wheel is OK . Anyone had this problem?
