  1. Whilst fitting a Smart Top to my cab the other day, I noticed a rough finish on the black leading edge of the body coloured panel that raises and lowers when opening the roof. I thinks it called the tonneau cover in old cabriolet language! The edge in question is where the cover has a black metal finisher that, when the roof is closed, is a continuation of the black trim that wraps right arount the base of the roof from door to door. Upon close inspection, when the cover was partially raised, it looked as though the rough finish was the residue of adhesive tape that may have been a soft rubber or textile trim.

Can any cab owners out there confirm wether there is a soft trim here and that mine has been pulled off?

  2. Hi all,

Removing my front bumper cover on my 996TT cab this weekend to clean out all the debris around my rads and air scoops. Had a great day last weekend cleaning out the rear drain holes and was amazed at the amount of crud from a 3 1/2 yr old car!! so i`m on a roll and I just love knowing whats going on in the bits you dont see.

2 questions, 1. once all the rads are clean does anyone think there would be a problem with spraying a corrosion inhibitor like WD40 over everything? just thinking about heat etc.

and 2. are there any fine mesh after market inserts around that can sit behind the stock grills to at least stop the larger debris getting in?

    regards

  3. The TT cab is just starting to come into my price bracket here in the UK and I am seriously thinking of moving my 2002MY C4 cab on and replacing with a TT. I have found a very nice 2004 car with 13k miles in Seal with Metropole full leather, Tip, sport seats and pretty much all the desirable options, large arctic, PCM2, heated seats, Bose. Pretty much as new with full OPC history

In terms of running this car, how does it compare with the C4, not fuel but tyres, brakes (not clutch obviously) and anything else that might be pertinent to the Turbo.

The car is from an independent dealer and I will get an OPC to do an inspection and warranty cover on it as it ran out in October.

Any comments will be very welcome

  4. Just transferred a Nokia car kit brain, phone holder and mic from my boxster to my 2002 C4. I invested in the model specific mute kit which connects between the back of the becker CDR22 and the brain, it takes power, earth and switched power from the HU. My car has the sound package with the amp in the boot (trunk) and this mute kit is listed to suit. Fitted easily enough after stashing most of the wiring behind the A/C control fascia. Switch on, code radio and hey presto, no sound!! radio tunes in , CD/CDC plays but with no output through the speakers. Checked fuses row D 9 and 8 for radio and sound package, both fine, question is does the amp have its own fuse on or near the unit? any assistance gratefully received if anyone has experience of this install.

    cheers
