  1. Having the guys at DMS do their 2 part upgrade which includes ECU and exhaust package, good for 550bhp see hear. Anything I should do for engine/turbo saftey and longevity? cheers Mark
  2. Whilst fitting a Smart Top to my cab the other day, I noticed a rough finish on the black leading edge of the body coloured panel that raises and lowers when opening the roof. I thinks it called the tonneau cover in old cabriolet language! The edge in question is where the cover has a black metal finisher that, when the roof is closed, is a continuation of the black trim that wraps right arount the base of the roof from door to door. Upon close inspection, when the cover was partially raised, it looked as though the rough finish was the residue of adhesive tape that may have been a soft rubber or textile trim. Can any cab owners out there confirm wether there is a soft trim here and that mine has been pulled off? regards mark
  3. Hi all, Removing my front bumper cover on my 996TT cab this weekend to clean out all the debris around my rads and air scoops. Had a great day last weekend cleaning out the rear drain holes and was amazed at the amount of crud from a 3 1/2 yr old car!! so i`m on a roll and I just love knowing whats going on in the bits you dont see. 2 questions, 1. once all the rads are clean does anyone think there would be a problem with spraying a corrosion inhibitor like WD40 over everything? just thinking about heat etc. and 2. are there any fine mesh after market inserts around that can sit behind the stock grills to at least stop the larger debris getting in? regards mark
  4. Great info! Thanks so much for finding that out, regards Mark
  5. As my X50 Turbo engine looks completely different underneath, can anyone shed any light on where I can locate my low profile jack to get the rear on stands? Cheers Mark
  6. thinking about fitting spacers to my newly aqquired UK 04 TT cab. Although the rears are 295/30 on 11" rims they look a little tucked in to those fat haunches. Advice on a good spacer size would be much appreciated. Thanks Mark
  7. Bit of a problem with my 2002 C4 cab. Turn the key, all dash lights light up, turn to start engine and just get a series of clicks but no turn over. The roll over protection warning comes on (hard top on at present). I`m leaving on trickle charge tonight incase battery is flat but any idaes would be welcome. cheers mark
  8. The TT cab is just starting to come into my price bracket here in the UK and I am seriously thinking of moving my 2002MY C4 cab on and replacing with a TT. I have found a very nice 2004 car with 13k miles in Seal with Metropole full leather, Tip, sport seats and pretty much all the desirable options, large arctic, PCM2, heated seats, Bose. Pretty much as new with full OPC history In terms of running this car, how does it compare with the C4, not fuel but tyres, brakes (not clutch obviously) and anything else that might be pertinent to the Turbo. The car is from an independent dealer and I will get an OPC to do an inspection and warranty cover on it as it ran out in October. Any comments will be very welcome Regards Mark
  9. Pistonheads.co.uk would be a good place to start, always a good selection on there so you should be able to price accordingly. regards Mark
  10. I`m not to sure, I retro fitted a couple of years ago to the ML and it came with a plug and play adaptor which allowed me to connect to the Audio 10 (becker head unit) loom and straight into the back of the command. Just had to connect an external antenna, exactly the same part as the becker traffic pro antenna.
  11. Taken the 2din command sat nav out of my wifes 2002 ML and refitted the Audio 10 HU prior to vehicle sale. I was just wondering if this unit might fit the 996 with the appropriate A/C control resiting. Looks OE with no Mercedes badging. Anybody forsee any difficulties?
  12. Looking to add a front lip spoiler/splitter to my 2002 model C4 Cab. I want to try and avoid the cost of replacing the whole PU with say an aerokit or GT3 type, just want to add a lower lip. Any one fitted one or know of a supplier? I already have a Gemballa rear bridge spoiler, so wanted something as subtle to match :) Cheers Marcus
  13. Just transferred a Nokia car kit brain, phone holder and mic from my boxster to my 2002 C4. I invested in the model specific mute kit which connects between the back of the becker CDR22 and the brain, it takes power, earth and switched power from the HU. My car has the sound package with the amp in the boot (trunk) and this mute kit is listed to suit. Fitted easily enough after stashing most of the wiring behind the A/C control fascia. Switch on, code radio and hey presto, no sound!! radio tunes in , CD/CDC plays but with no output through the speakers. Checked fuses row D 9 and 8 for radio and sound package, both fine, question is does the amp have its own fuse on or near the unit? any assistance gratefully received if anyone has experience of this install. cheers Mark
  14. Yeah, thats it, I had read that with great interest and will be using it as an install guide. I wanted to make sure I had the right code for a Matt finish switch as the picture shows a gloss one, cheers Mark
  15. Hi all, 1st post on this excellent forum :D I have just had the small bridge fitted to the rear spoiler of my 02 996 C4 cab and was looking to manually switch the rise and fall ala TT, can somebody please confirm the part number for a RHD uk car, matte switch fitted to the right side of the switch panel. Many thanks Mark
