  1. Problem was eventually traced to a faulty ABS pump/control unit. It did not hurt to replace all four deteriorated ABS harness connectors in each wheel well along with wheel speed sensors with cracked plug connectors. One of Porsche's worst material selections for such duty.
  2. I'm not getting a spoiler light. When the ABS light comes on, the spoiler deploys into the "up" position and remains there. I cannot retract the spoiler until the ABS light goes out (usually after sitting overnight).
  3. Thanks for the input. Battery is good, as is the alternator. Will investigate circuit integrity at instrument cluster, then wheel sensors/connectors. Also read that intermittent issues with brake light (pedal) switch can contribute to problems. Will also check that. Spoiler behavior still puzzling. Is it functionally tied to ABS somehow?
  4. Started to get an intermittent ABS light on my 2001 base 986 Boxster 2.7L. No ABS codes upon scanning. Strangely, when the ABS light comes on the rear spoiler deploys and will not retract. Schwaben scanner indicates generic error 35 for "Interface with instrument cluster (see instr cluster FM). After sitting overnight and upon cold startup, ABS light is off; spoiler can be manually retracted with kick panel button. ABS tested good with a panic stop. After driving about 10 minutes, ABS light comes on, spoiler extends and now get DTC 9111 "PSM/ABS control unit". Research suggests that the connectors to the instrument cluster may be deteriorated and not maintaining contact. Would this affect an error code for the PSM/ABS Control Unit? Have not yet examined ABS wheel speed sensors or connectors. Suggestions for proceeding? Thank in advance.
  5. Thanks, all. I'll continue to research options with the four-channel amp and pass on anything new that I discover.
  6. Thanks, Kevin. The previous owner had installed a set of full-range speakers in the doors as well as replacements in the dash. The door speakers are barely audible. Since the Haes amplifier is supposed to have four-channels, I was hoping to find the "second" set of channels (rear, left and right shown on some wiring diagrams for an M490 system) to bring the door speakers up as a fully-functional rear channel. I have since learned that the "second" set of two channels on this amp are the low pass filtered circuits to the door speakers. These circuits do not respond to the fader function, so are therefore not part of a secondary channel in the typical sense. Attached is the M490 system diagram showing the additional rear channels. Although the actual amp is not identified, my pin configuration is identical. If there is output at pins B16, B6, B15, B5, then I might have the rear channel. More testing is in the works. If there's nothing there, your suggestion of a new amplifier is probably the way to go. Thanks again.
  7. Searched but could not find definitive discussion of this amplifier's functions. My 2001 with M490 (dash and door speakers, no rear speakers) has the "four-channel" Haes amp, but the stock setup has no controllable "rear" channel. All speakers currently operate on the "front" setting only. What (if any) function is active on the second (rear?) channel for this amp (and which pin numbers identify this channel?) I understand that the door speakers are fed only low frequency signals from the amp, but are they on the second "channel" - not controlled separately from the head unit? Are there any unused output pins from this amplifier that may be used to drive the door speakers independently of the filtered signal now being supplied by the amp's current wiring? Several wiring diagrams suggest that a second (rear) channel may be available from the amp to drive any additional rear speakers, or a set of full-range door speakers. Any help is most appreciated.
  8. Check that the hexagon nut at the top of the strut assembly is tight while the car is on the ground. There should be no movement of the stop plate (inverted washer) when the nut is tightened down.
  9. Just finished reassembling rear suspension on 2001 Boxster. Now, how do you guys torque the axle nuts up to 325 ft-lbs? Special wrench?
  10. Do you have a source on Amazon from which to order these?
  11. While replacing my front and rear suspension components on my 2001 Boxster (Base), I encountered numerous rubber grommets that suspend electrical lines (brake wear sensors, ABS sensors, etc) from the main strut brace and the inner fender wells. These grommets had become very brittle and some were missing entirely. I have been unable to definitively identify the part number(s) in the Porsche parts manual and am looking for a solution. Many thanks in advance. CJ
  12. OK, thanks. BTW - the radio code you provided worked perfectly! Thanks, again.
  13. New to this forum and tried the link above (now broken). Is there an alternate?
  14. One more request: 2001 Boxster Base Becker CDR-220 Type 4462 Serial Number: Y5053289 Many thanks!
