  1. I hope for his sake its not that, hopefully it isn't as its very rare. There is a way of checking - the engine management fuse will be blown. If you put in a new fuse it will seem fine - but when you turn the key the fuse blows again. Worth checking that battery terminals - a loose connection can power the elecrtics but stop the starter from turning - a long shot but it worked once on a Subaru Imprezza.
  2. Is this a 996 or a 993? A while back on my 996 all the elecrtics worked fine but just a click when I turned the key. Turned out to be a blown varioram solenoid in one of the banks. Expensive to fix: £750, but I was told it is very rare. On mine, the engine cut out while driving.
  3. As long as it only lasts for a minute it is supposed to be normal with Boxer engines. Something about the oil not draining away fully due to the horizontal cylinders - it gets burned off on start up causing te smaoke. Mine does this - if I stop and start the car a few times without driving much I get a few puffs of smoke. Took it to an OPC who said its normal.
  4. I'm not sure about the bar, but I do know a Tip 996 has 3 radiators and a Manual one has 2... if that sheds any light.
  5. BTW: The big tips were on the Millennium edition cars as standard.
  6. Hi, I have a MY00 C4 (996). My air conditioning has been making a noise recently and now it does not provide any cold air at all. :( I took it into a dealer today and they say it is because the condenser unit is leaking. They think it was probably damaged by a stone. In addition they advise changing the dessicator/drier too. Total cost... equivalent to $1000! Anyway, I was hoping you could tell me : 1. Where is the condenser unit? and can it gat damaged by a stone? 2. Does the advice on also needing to change the dessicator/drier unit if the condensor is changed sound correct? Many thanks in advance!
  7. Those are the Millennium Edition Turbo-Look wheels so they do fit a normal 996. The Turbo II wheels are wider... so I am unsure. I looked at this very thing and unfortunately most people could nto be certain...
  8. Defo... don't get a GT3 one unless you have one. I have a C4 but have "911" on mine (as it is a Millennium Edition)...
  9. Hi, the 996 Millennium Edition has a natural brown leather one with "911" on it, if that helps...
  10. Loren, Sorry to be a pain... please could you mail me the calibration manual too... I had to shut the unit off recently so this would be really useful. Thanks in advance.
  11. As far as I know, if I riase the wing with the button it does not go down until I put it down even after the car has been switched off. What I'd really like to know is if the speed at which the wing goes up can be altered... anyone know?
  12. Hi all, I had to change on of the fuses in my MY00 996 C4 today. Following that, the PCM unit asked for a 4 digit code. Any ideas what this code is and where I can find it? Thanks in advance
  13. Hi guys, I was hoping I could get some advice... I am looking to fit some 2002 Turbo II wheels to my MY00 Carrear 4. Any idea if these will fit, or will they be too wide??
