  1. Car is completely stock, i purchased it a few weeks ago. New tires were fitted post purchase, so I asume the tire pressure was applyed correctly then. All the plastic panels underneath are all intact. Also no external panels have been changed, and i had an indepth and quite costly pre purchase inspection performed and all bushings, balljoints or tie rods where deemed worn. This is why im thinking it is in need of suspension upgrading. I have 2 other cars with coilovers, sway bars, and upper and lower strut braces installed and ive never had this slight wandering sensation at speeds over 100+ in them.
  2. Right, the placement differs from year to year and even by specific model. The chart i linked covers everything classified as 996
  3. D8 is not the correct fuse to pull for an 02 c2, D8 is strictly the radio. Which explains why my radio stopped working when I pulled it. D7 is listed for rear spoiler. Heres a link with all the 996 models and years fuses listed: 1997 to 2006 – 911 (996) Fuses Box Diagram and Amperages List HOWTOPORSCHE.COM List of fuses and amperage for Porsche 911 (996) (1997 to 2006) including fuse box location and fuse box diagram
  4. When I click your link it says “ the topic does not exist or you do not have permission to open it.”
  5. My fuel filler door doesnt lock and I have 1 beep after locking. The little rod just stays fully extended all the time, I can even open the fuel cover when the car is locked. Anyone know whats goin on? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  6. Anyone else having issues with stability at 100mph+? My 02 C2 tends to wander a bit at 100mph+. Im looking to upgarde to coilovers, fater sway bars, and strut braces if possible. I just cant seem to find coilover kits for the 02 c2. There are plenty for turbo’s and gt2/3, but for c2 i cant find any kits. I found sway bar upgrades up to 26mm though. And no luck finding strut braces either. If anyone knows of any kits, or what could be causing the wander issue let me know please. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  7. If everything is good with the radio install then it was a success. The fuel gauge and srs light could be for a seperate post. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  8. Im selling mine soon, after getting the 996 I no longer have any interest in it. The jeep I use for work. Anyway, let us know how your install goes. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  9. Yes i have it in a jeep wrangler tj, and in a BMW E36 M3. I sometimes remove the roof and doors on the jeep, no issues there. My 996 is a coupe, and the M3 is a coupe also.
  10. There is no comparison. And the stock bose sub is actually decent but the cdr-220 does not utilize its full potential. Now with full low, mid, and high range control the whole system sounds much more clear. And this is with ONLY the headunit changed. Speakers, sub and amps are all stock..... for now. 11. I got mine working. Heres how it goes if you are in my possition and have just a single black/red wire coming from that yellow socket. New radio harness connects color to color with the metra black harness EXCEPT for the blue amp signal wire. Amp signal from new radio harness connects to red harness ONLY. Metra black harness amp signal is isolated and heat shrinked. Yellow terminal with single black / red wire plugs to red harness. I couldnt disconnect the individual sockets so i pluged them all in, anyway there are only pins for that yellow connect to contact RCA’s from red harness are unused. I will likely clean them up at a later date. Antena adapter is straight forward. NOTE: the connections on the metra black harness are specific, one has the locking back near the bottom, the other has the locking tab towards the center, so you really cant insert them in the wrong slot. I have crimped all of my connections for the testing and trouble shooting. Now that everything is verifyed to be fully functional i will be removing crimps and soldering/ heat shrinking all connections. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  12. Can you post it here, it would be more beneficial for everyone Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  13. In that diagram C1 is shown where my yellow connector is, showing it had multiple sockets, but my yellow has just 1 socket. The c2 in that diagram is shown in the place where my blue connector is, showing it has just 1 socket for cd changer, but my c2 is a blue connector and has multiple sockets. So this is my problem, is my CDR-220 wired weird, or are these diagrams not accurate? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  14. That link shows about half of the wires cut and not connected to anything. I just assembled my harness, ill test it no and post back the results. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  15. I use the 80prs in a different car too. Ive never had washout issues with it. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  16. Im still trying to figure mine out. All the info about these 996 radio installs is so vague. What I need to figure out is the red connector, CAI shows the red connector mating to the OEM yellow with 2 yellow wires, 1 black, and 1 brown. But my yellow connector only has 1 red/black wire in it, so im not sure what to connect to the red harness. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  17. I found a store called “car audio inovations”. They sell the complete harness and subwoofer retention harness for the 996, 997 and many other porsche models. They even offer a completed plug n play radio harness if you are using an alpine deck that they use. Car Audio Innovations Porsche Audio Upgrades CAI-STORE.COM Car Audio Innovations manufacturers and sells Porsche audio upgrades. Speakers subwoofer enclosures navigation radio and amplifiers. 18. I have the bose amps next to the cd changer Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  19. Didnt work, and it made my radio turn off until I put the fuse back in Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  20. Here is a photo of the connections behind by stock radio, there is a black connection, a brown connection, 3 small connections yellow, green, and blue, plus the antena connection. The metra harness shows 1 black connection, and one red with RCA’s, so where do the 3 small ones go? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  21. Yes its that cdr 220 with the amp in the front. I would like to leave the amp, sub and speakers the same and change only the radio if possible. The radio I will install is a pioneer 80prs Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  22. I have an 02 C2 and Im not sure about the harness. It shows it comes with 4 RCA males but they arent red and white. Is this the proper kit, and where do these RCA’s plug in to the new head unit? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  23. Awesome, Ill give it a try and post back the results. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
