  1. I'm trying to.. I think I have it narrowed down to either the shock mounts or one of the control arms. Due to the cost of the components however I really dont want to just change parts. It is very annoying though!
  2. Ok I'm getting ready to sell my 2000 996 with 52k mi and I feel that it will be much easier to sell with the RMS overnight drip taken care of! My question is does anyone have or know where I can borrow or rent the proper tool for installing the RMS. What have the DIY'ers been using? Please let me know! Thank You Brian
  3. Thanks for the response What can I check for to help narrow this down? With the front end up in the air where should I be checking for play and whats the best way to do so? Which Ball joints would produce that type of clunk. The foward control arm? the main lower control arm? sway bar drop links?
  4. The car drives perfectly straight. What do you imagine he would be looking for? There must be only a few things in the front end that would produce this type of clunking. Im just trying to narrow it down and hoping to find some good sugestions from what may have worked in the past.
  5. No ideas? What should I replace first??? Is there a common failing part I can replace that this could be?? I need to make some kind of headway with this!!!
  6. I have a 2000 996 with 48k on it. Regular US suspension and 18" wheels. For the last few months I have been feeling a light clunk in the steering wheel, when pulling away from and comming to a complete stop. I have put the car up several times and checked the ball joints but nothing seems to stand out. I have been living with it for a while but now it has progressed to that slight clunking when pulling into or out of driveways slowly whel the wheel is turned ( anything with a lip on it) and now I can feel it on the road even on the highway by swerving back and forth quickly. It feels most like a slight tap or knock felt through the wheel with no audible noise. Everything feels tight when I check it ( sway bar links, ball joints etc.) Im not sure what it could be. I can only replicate it while moving and not at a stand still. Any help would be great I'm really scratching my head trying to figure out what to replace first!! Thanks
  7. Hello everyone, I have been a silent member since I bought my 2000 996 last summer. However this question I can't answer on my own ( I tried!!). Suprise suprise my car has an RMS leak (44k mi) and I'm going to do it myself, I have all the parts lined up that I need except one. Where can I find the tool needed to press in the new crankshaft seal?? I have looked everywhere! Pelican parts dosent seem to have the newest version ( the one that sets it 5mm deep) and I cant find any place to rent or sell one. If anyone could help me out or point me in the right direction I would greatly appriciate it!!
  8. I was searching through the forums and came accross the and issue you were having with a popping feeling in the steering wheel. I have the same exact thing happening with my low mileage 2000 C2. I can actually make it occur by grabbing the steering wheel and yanking it back and forth. I also removed the air bag and checked the steering nut, and dis connected the steering u joint by the brake pedal to rule out anything in the suspension and steering system. It is definately coming from the column. You had this issue a while back and I was wondering if you ever got to the bottom of it? I would like to fix this asap!!!
