  1. First of all thank you for your replay – most of the people here have extended warranties but they just don’t bother to answer my post – but I guess is not a very hot topic. I did my own research here and there, I search in the archive here too, I spoke with a couple of mechanics and owners, I spoke with the people at dealer Service, and I’m still doing it. I kind of found out what I want to know about the extended warranties and what dealers prefer, etc. But my conclusions are a bit different. I got scared reading about the reliability of these engines and the dollar amounts for the repair costs. From this point of view, I definitely want to get extended warranty. On the other hand, those warranties are very expensive, is very well possible that you overpay buying the warranty – like you said, the repairs may cost you the same, or even less. But what if you need a new engine? We’re talking here more than $10k versus $3k the warranty for few years. And is not only the engine there.. Another turn off is the way that warranty companies are avoiding to pay at all costs – which is make me sick. Here is where is important what warranty you get & from where. Also, I noticed that a good warranty company which will work easier will also cost more. I just don’t want to jeopardize, I may be to caution, I may think it too much, but I also never had a Porsche before and I’m not very relaxed when it comes to the $ numbers that I read & heard. Thank you.
  2. I'm in the market for a 2002-2003 C2/C4S with around 30k miles, probably 6sp. I look seriously and I see/drive cars almost every weekend now. I'm going to purchase pretty soon, just looking for the best car/deal. I am located in So California, LA area. I don't want to get an overpriced Certified Preowned from the dealer, I think I'm better off buing a non-certified car & buy extended warranty. I just don't now wich aftermarket warranty one is best for me. I noticed that many companies do not sell extended warranty in California. Some do, but not all cover cars older than 4 years (like Warranty Direct). I want to ask you what is your opinion on this. What companies do you recommend, what companies do cover older cars, with what companies have you had good experience in the past, and what to avoid. I never purchase extended warranty before. Thanks in advance. razteo
