  1. Mike, Glad you fixed the switch. I bought my switch through Automobile Atlantic for about $35, the dealership wanted $100. It was interesting to hear the dealership was charging $500 for the fix, I feel even better about fixing it myself. Axle
  2. Thanks Toolpants, I replaced the micro switch and it worked! I was a little skeptical when I was putting it in, but there is that huge sense of satisfaction when you push the top down switch and it works. The diagnositics from the sheet was straight foward and the replacement of the switch was a piece of cake. The toughest part was getting the two clips on. As an aside, I called the dealership and they wanted $99 plus tax for the switch. I ordered on line and got it for $35 plus tax. It took two weeks to get all the pieces. Once again thanks to everyone for the help. Axle
  3. Thanks Tool Pants. That was quick. I'll let you know how it goes. Axle
  4. Thanks Tool Pants. I'll get on that today and let you know how it goes. Axle
  5. Hi, I have been having issues with my top going up and down on my 1999 Boxster. It finally died several weeks ago. I went through the troubleshooting guide found under "986 Boxster Top Issues and Solutions" (#13 Top Issues). http://www.renntech.org/forums/lofiversion...php/t17860.html I had the same exact results as Cartel. Following the trouble shooting guide (below), I failed at step 8 (convertible top unlock) http://www.renntech.org/forums/index.php?a...st&id=10850 That would be the microswitch over the rear view mirror, however I cannot find a microswitch. Does anyone know the part number for this switch? Thanks, Axle index.pdf
  6. Openwater and Tool Pants, Thanks for all the info and pictures. I was amazed to find the exact description of my problem in Openwater's first post. The milage on my 1999 Boxster was 154482, about the same as everyone else. I first removed the carpet and found the lake. I bought a new Equalizing Tank (996-106-147-08), Anti Freeze as well as the cap ending in 1 from the dealer. Total cost was ~ $382 ($50 for the Anti Freeze). I was going to do the replacment myself, but work got in the way. I ended up taking everything to a local mechanic (San Jose, CA) who had me up and running in one day. Glad I had him do it, he said it was a pain. He only charged me $100 for the labor. When I got the old tank it looked exactly like the pictures you posted. Once again, thanks for the help. Axle
