  1. I had a professional inspection yesterday and all looked new (not sure about A/C) Exhaust and even the turbos were brand spankin new, thank you Porsche! thanks for the help :clapping:
  2. Mine ends in a number so It looks like if could be a new one. When the factory replaces the engine, what do they replace? Is it everything including turbos, and exhaust? Or is it more of a short-block replacement?? thanks :jump:
  3. Thanks for replying. I realize the engine is an exchange engine. How do I tell if it is new or referb? If it is MY05, then is is built to MY05 specs or is that just date of build? thanks
  4. I just purchased a 2002, 996 twin turbo that had the engine replaced at 49k miles under warrentee in 2006. Q1: I want to identify the engine as new or refurb, and also see if it is the same as stock/original. Q2: I am also am not sure what exactly was replaced, I am a first time porsche owner and not yet familliar with what I am looking at in the engine compartment. I am wondering if they replaced everything including the turbos? Paperwork from dealer says the part replaced and core return were: 996-1000-971-X Markings on Case 996.101.198.OR, EN AC-AC 518 Cu3, Engine plate S/N M96/706450xxxx (xxxx kept blank) thanks! :drive:
