  1. Hi. I had the exact same setup in my C4 with the continental & bergvill adapter. I’m no audio expert but believe that adaptor doesn’t have a fader (control of the independent volume of front and rear speakers) so maybe this is the issue..? I was never happy with the sound of the stock speakers and amp with the continental unit and adaptor, so now have a pioneer head unit with pre-outs to a new amp, 6 new speakers & a sub. Not the cheapest option (~£750) but sound quality is top notch now. Both the continental & bergvill adaptor seem to sell very easily on a certain online auction site from my experience........ if you were to choose to go this route. I just don’t think you can ever expect much audio quality from the stock amp & speakers. After a lot of research of my own I didn’t find any other solution than replacing the entire setup like I have. Just a bit unlucky to get a car with the optical amp.....
