  1. Are there more than one service warnings on a 997.2? The only one I see is Service Now... Is there a reset for oil change and other resets for other serrvices? Does the iCarsoft POR II resets them all?
  2. My bad. I meant 'cannot'. If the correct drain plug is in place the pan does not need to be replaced. How many times this is the case I do not know.
  3. That filter is part of the pan cover. The cover and filter are replaced if the oil plug cannot be re-used, which seems to be the case in some early PDK cars.
  4. Just got it confirmed by a Porsche Master Mechanic - same oil.
  5. Is the gear oil the same for a PDK with an LSD? Or does it require a different oil or an additive like other transaxles with an LSD?

  7. You do not need to change brakes for the reasons you point to. You would only see the benefits of GT3 brakes on heavy track usage if you track your car, and never on the street, and certainly not in the usual panic braking.
  8. Slicky Rick: In recirc mode there is no overt air input. You are breathing closed cabin air. Of course, there's always some air creeping in from the outside, but less than when recirc is off. The pollen filter, stops large particulates but not gases or smells. Your S-Merc cabin fllter does not renew the air, just cleans it from particulates. Are you sure that that filter is not used by external air. The fact that the filter is inside the cabin does not mean that it is strictly used in recirc mode.
  9. I doubt that the polen filter is in the loop when recirculation is engaged. What's the point of constantly filtering, internal (supposedly clean) air anyway? In addition, recirculation should be used as least as possible.
  10. ^ more... On a 4wd 997 mixing different tires front and rear may actually damage the AWD system. Just crazy!
  11. MWS: There is no tire rotation in 997s. You can exchange tires left to right on the same axle if the tires are not unidirectional but what's the point? Second. Never, never mix different tire styles between front and rear. Both axles must have the same exact tire compound/brand/type including N-rating if a N-rated tire. Your adding Hankook to the rear while maintaining PS2 at the front is total folly. The tire shop you used is utterly incompetent. That is why your handling was screwed up.
  12. You got that right. The Cayenne is a great ute but it is worlds apart from an 11. I suppose those who seek straight-line thrills cannot tell the difference.
  13. Probably not. I suggest you ask your dealer to take a look.
  14. You seem to imply that you observe that when the car is on an incline. Could the noise be the release of the brake assist (which is normal)?
  15. I recommend the LSD which you can get with either suspension. Because we drive mostly on real world roads I did not get the SPASM. The 997.2 std PASM is a great suspension and I can always put in Sport mode.
  16. The Moweraxle is fine but overbuilt/heavy and not as flexible as it should be position-wise. I prefer the product sold by JCS. It sells for $37.50 including shipping - Contact: stumberger_r@msn.com 1 - It is well made. Well machined metal parts and good fasteners 2 - Great (light) black stiff plastic backplate - warp-free 3 - Flexible post mounting attach points, offering multiple offsets 4 - And most important - light weight as compared to other heavier designs. Here are pics:
  17. My '10 CS has PDK. Excellent tranny with multifaceted personality. Smooth, or aggressive, fast and efficient. Redundant buttons actually make sense, if one drives with hands in the 3-9 position. I see no compromise vs a manual, just a different option. Pick one and be happy.
  18. My iPhone 3GS works perfectly in my '10 CS. Same with my iPod Photo. The IPod connector require both the USB and iPod ports connected to charge the iPod.
  19. You want PASM for daily driving. PASM on the .2 generation is just about perfect. And you'll mostly use it in normal mode on the street. The std non-PASM suspension is far more punishing over expansion joints and broken pavement. PASM Normal is not a limo suspension but it does control sharp changes quite well.
  20. Sorry, I'm still not buying in. ... What are you not 'buying in'? The problem or a new 997.2? :)
  21. The source of the picture is a Cayenne DFI engine. On the intake tract there is air and EGR products. The latter is what we see in that picture. I first posted this thread asking a question re the 997.2 DFI engine and this issue. I do not think that this is a major issue - I have since bought a 997.2S...
  22. PDK in D mode is adaptive except in Sport Plus, which should shift at redline (and should not be used on the street). Its adaptive algorithm learns over time - it does not just replicate the last time.
  23. Do not turn off PSM. Leave the PSM button alone (unlit). - Turn Sport Plus ON - PDK in D - Left foot on brake - Floor the throttle past the kick-down switch and leave it there - The tach should show a steady 6500RPM [and may flash 'Launch Control' (I forgot)] - Release the brake and hold on Do make sure you do this in a safe area with zero traffic or people around and a reasonable straight-line in front of you with space to stop. I have Launch control in my car and have no plans to use it. I own the car and I do not care about drag strip launches. :)
