  1. Didn`t split the lines , ran the car up to temp (80 degrees trans oil temp) which allowed the thermostat to open and mix with the new oil and gave it a second flush. Made a filling tube myself (M10 x 1mm) to replace the oil , the level checking tube is already under the drain plug - you remove this once the sump plug is removed. K
  2. Replaced it myself , ordered 10L of transmission fluid from Opie oils , filter and sump gasket from Autodoc - total price was £150 (ish) . The 10L of oil was enough for two changes , the second change was done after a run up to temp to allow the oil cooler thermostat to open. No changes to shifting but at least i know it has been done , properly. Next on the list is both diffs and transfer case fluids. Kenny
  3. Morning people , I am going to be replacing the transmission fluid on my `13 Cayenne diesel (68k miles) soon and have just one question regarding the original fluid. When doing the pan drop fluid and filter change you only get around 60 - 70% of the original fluid out so , not wanting to mix different brands of fluids , i need to know if from the factory Aisin 0C8 gearbox comes with Aisin fluid or Porsche fluid ? Or , if anyone has done the above and used a different brand of fluid for the partial fluid replacement with success then that would be good to know. Been getting various quotes from local transmission "specialists" and not been filled with confidence in their replies to any questions i have asked so have decided to do it myself. Thanks in advance - Kenny
  4. As above people , i am getting some vibes through the steering wheel and pedals when the car is idling , it doesn`t matter what position the gearbox is in. The car is a 2013 model with 64k miles. I have had a look around underneath and there is nothing obvious to report and am edging towards the motor mounts as the source of the problem. So , can they be replaced without dropping the complete engine / gearbox / subframe from the car ? The mounts are the ones with the vacuum fitting on the lower part of the mounts. Cheers - K
  5. I have started to tackle some PM tasks on the Cayenne which leads me to the question above. Going to be cleaning the sunroof rails (not seals) and re-lubricating them to keep the sunroof operating smoothly for as long as possible , so what are people using to re-grease the clean rails as the proper Porsche part number is discontinued and a Google search returned allsorts of various snakeoil lotions and potions. Some say grease / some say PTFE spray / some say leave them dry - the workshop manual states to use grease and where to use it. Was looking at the VW / Audi stuff as that seems readily available ?? Thanks in advance. Kenny
  6. Never considered seal restorers , dont think it would have helped with my leaks as the sump is sealed with gasket silicon and the drain plug needed a new crush washer. From what i have read the leak from the bellhousing is caused by a fault during engine assembly , so no amount of leak stopper will cure that one. Funny how in certain parts of the world this is repaired under VW Dieselgate extended drivetrain warranty but here in the UK we are left to fork out the £5 -> £9k ourselves ?? K
  7. Lots of info on the web regarding Cayenne oil leaks , just off to try and address the issue(s) on mine. There seems to be a couple of places it leaks from , sump plug / oil pan to crankcase joint and from the housing around the flywheel (bellhousing in old terms) Mine is leaking from the sump washer due to it not being replaced at the previous service and also from one area around the sump. Bad news is that if it needs the sump resealed properly or the bellhousing leak repaired properly then it is an engine / gearbox / subframe out job that runs into many ££££. If you are doing 1200 miles a month and the undertray is just a little "moist" and no dripping oil present then just live with it as it would be an expensive repair for all that is leaking. K
  8. Finally got the modification complete , couldn`t bring myself to part with almost £600 for just the clock then having to faff around wiring it into the car so i purchased a genuine panel for £100 + vat then got myself a 52mm clock from a company called R-Spec as it matched the rest of the dash (black / white /orange pointers) and made myself a stepped stainless steel bush to fit it to the panel. Not full factory spec but to the untrained eye it looks ok , plus the hands shouldn`t fall off 20200712_075501 by Kenny Niven, on Flickr Kenny
  9. That is perfect , many thanks. As you said the 2" one will be too small meaning i would need to make an adaptor spacer to take up the difference , the 2 5/8" (67mm) looks like it will be too large to fit into the bezel so i can rule that out as i am not butchering a new (expensive) panel. Thanks again. Regards - Kenny
  10. Morning people , yet another question. Going to fit an analogue clock into the factory dash enclosure designed for the compass / stopwatch etc. So before i purchase the dash panel i need to find out what size the hole is that accepts the gauge so i can order one that is the correct size. They seem to be available from Speedhut in either 2" or 2 5/8" sizes. So if anyone knows the size of the hole in the panel or the outside diameter of a genuine gauge it would be good to know. I dont want a genuine one as the hands seem to fall off , no point in having a compass or a stopwatch for the daily driving that i do. Thanks in advance. K
  11. My faulty one is on the drivers side (UK). Just been having a look through a US dealers (Atlanta) website and have just came across the very parts drawing you have posted. Mine is a `13 model so i dont know if the ones from 11/16 >> will fit , the one shown looks similar to the VW ones but not the same as the one shown on P85 of the parts drawings : 2010-16 Cayenne - LIGHTS. 12. Just an update , the little LED is not available on its own even though the part can be removed easily from the door trim . So if you want a flashing LED it only comes with the door panel at £1200 + Vat (20%) , i dont think i will bother. K
  13. It does , many thanks Looks like a door panel off job to investigate. K
  14. Evening people , first question as a first time Porsche owner and hopefully a simple one. Before i take the drivers side door panel off to investigate should i have a flashing alarm LED on both front doors as only the passenger side one is flashing when i set the alarm ? Thanks in advance , Kenny (2012 ,Cayenne)
