  1. The trunk latch looks like it is missing a clip or something similar that holds the emergency release in place. Would not open because no tension on the wire without it.
  2. Found the problem with door lock. When door latch mechanism was replaced the arm off the back of the lock cylinder was not inserted properly. Fixed that it’s working again.
  3. AAA opened with inflatable thing. After turning off alarm key fob works to lock and unlock, I forgot the receiver powers down after several days of inactivity. Key still will not turn lock cylinder, that appears to be the problem. Thanks for the help everyone, might be back after researching the lock problem.
  4. When I purchased only had 1 key. Bentley manual looks like it is mechanical. Odd that the key fob unlock would stop working at same time mechanical breaks. Calling AAA, I’ll let them use the blood pressure looking thing on it.
  5. Tried and still nothing. It seems like the mechanical part is turning, it is spring loaded and turns key back to upright on its own. Alarm light on dash is flashing slow both with pack connected and without.
  6. Took off the rest of the screws on the bottom of the rear bumper. Used a screwdriver to lift the taillight and found the release cable for the engine. Used a pick to grab it and it opened. But put a jump starter battery pack on the engine connections, still nothing from the remote and key won’t open lock either. Battery pack light shows connected properly. Not sure how to proceed. I assume jump start point on engine would supply power to entire car not just the starter.
  7. No I turn the key and absolutely nothing. I thought it was electric with all the micro switches. It opened last Sunday, I’m not sure if with the key or remote but now completely dead.
  8. 2001 Cab. Key or remote won’t unlock door. The emergency hood (engine) release is not were it should be. The emergency trunk release isn’t working. No matter how hard I pull it has no give at all. Any thing I am missing or any suggestions?
  9. Thank you, I’m sure your right about the pads. Do you think the hydraulic tensioner might be bad as well?
  10. 2000 C2 6 speed, 82K miles. I’ve had for almost 6 months 3k miles. CEL P01128 the other day. Only other previous codes were P01128, P01130, and P0327. I cleared these back in December to see if they would repeat. When I was checking the FRA and RKAT, I also decided to check the cam deviations. Bank 1 showing over 12 and bank 2 over 4 at time of CEL. I cleared and rechecked, those values stay steady, coming down slightly (11 and 3) as the car heats up. Car drives fine. I changed the oil shortly after purchase, nothing in the filter. Can tensioner pads being worn allow that much deviation? I’ve read about the possibility of the tensioner being issue, is there a way to test? Anything else that could be causing this problem? 1st thing I did after purchase was IMSB replacement so that is good.
  11. Have you checked your shift cable ends at the transmission? When mine were coming loose shifting to 2nd gear an occasional grind when cold was 1st symptom.
  12. Thanks everyone for the responses. I’ll probably grab that book it will be nice to have all the values easily available. Seems like I spend as much time looking for torque values as working on the car. Hopefully I don’t need it for a while looking forward to driving the car.
  13. Thank you, I wasn’t thinking about the many varieties of the 996. 2000 Carrera rear axle.
  14. Can someone please post the torque spec for these bolts? I ordered the 101projects book great for taking apart but doesn’t give you what you need to put back together. I have The Bentley on order but won’t be here for a couple days and would like to get it finished.
