  1. Finally got my top operational. The problem was the relay which was new and worked but gave low voltage to the top motor. Replaced it with one without the green dot on the advise of the parts guy at Rector. Now I have a new problem. The windshield part of the top latch has lost the left side bolt and the threaded part is gone. In other words the star headed bolt has no place to thread into. Whatever holds the threaded portion in place is broken. The consequences are that the windows go down partially when I hit a bump because the microswitch is slightlycrooked and concact is lost. Right now I have a small piece of foam holding the conatct but would prefer to bolt it down properly. Is there a fix for this?? Painless
  2. Tool Pants, I'm going to see if there's power to the top motor, and also power the motor directly to see if it works. If I'm still stuck I will bring it down. Where in San Jose are you? thanks painless
  3. I'm at the same place with my 1999. Switches, relay, handbreak all ok... still stuck in down position. Posted for a referral to someone to fix but got no response (Tool Pants??). Now I'm told by a mechanic that he must run a 3 hour diagnostic test to find problem. Manually putting the top up and down reminds me of my old convertible D, but the rattle from the loose reds and blacks with the top up is maddening. Still need help, please? painless
  4. Mine leaks too...thru the big hole left when the top is STUCK DOWN! Any suggestions? painless
  5. Hi, Does anyone out there know where, other than dealer, I can takee my top problems to. The electronics are beyond me to figure out. I'm in San Mateo, CA. Painless
  6. Tool Pants, OK I got the top and clamshell loose. There is no power to the top motor... the switch works, the relay clicks(both the old one and a new one, emergency brake light on. Is there another microswitch or controller? Wire exits top space into electronic hell behind trunk. What next? painless
  7. I have a top stuckin the down position and cannot release the passenger side black connnector...the factory tool is primitive and I fear doing irreversible damage. Help
