  1. Hi! I need your help. I am in the process of replacing the alternator/starter cable on my 2005 Carrera 3,6 and i have now reached the point where it´s time for the alternator to come out. In all the DIY tutorials I can find this seems to be a simple task. In my case though there is nothing simple about it at all. When all the bolts are loose and a slight wiggle is all that is supposed to be needed to get the alternator out there is simply not enough space in my case. My car has a different type of intake manifold than in all of the DIY tutorials i can find (perhaps they all are Carrera S 3.8:s?) and it is much lower. The alternator can barely be lifted before it hits the manifold. Therefore it can´t be lifted high enough to pass the lower mount. Does anyone have any tips and tricks to solve this problem? One option is of course to remove the crankcase lid (in pic below) and get the lower mount out of the way, but i would rather avoid this if possible. I started to loosen the bolts holding the lid and there was water starting to appear around the bolts heads instantly. Has anyone removed this lid, and how much water can I expext to pour out if i choose to remove it? It seemed to be quite some pressure behind it. I would be thankful if anyone could come to my rescue. Which is the best way to solve this? Best Regards /Lars (I come from Sweden so I appologize if the english in this post is not correct, but I hope you get the poit anyway 🙂)
