    Sounds like carbon build up. Mine had similar symptoms, but only if the car had been sitting for a few days. I ran a full tank of gas with a bottle of Techron Concentrate Plus, followed by an oil change and voila, problem solved.

    +1 for a CV joint coming off the bell housing side. Look under your car at the back, center left and center right: if it is the case, one CV joint's gearbox end is most likely resting on the respective side's lower control arm. 15 minutes fix and you are on your way.

    I would strongly recommend AUTOWERKS in Woodbridge, ON (www.euautowerks.com). Or if you want to source a used engine, you can try Nineapart (Porsche only wrecking yard) in Tottenham, ON (www.nineapart.com) Good luck.

    Similar thing happened to me last week-end, with the turning signal. I picked-up a complete switch unit (gently used) for $30.00 on eBay. It's in the mail and will install it when it arrives.
