  1. Have ruined the seats in a 2004 Boxster S (top down, rain and sprinklers). Shopping for used and LAdismantlers has a set of 8 way seats out of a 911 (don't know the year). Would like to know if anybody out there has made this switch or knows of anyone that has or knows if they would fit without having to make major modifications. The seats I have in the car are heated and 2 way (I guess). Thanks
  2. Thanks, all. will try either the fuse or relay option.
  3. Have upgraded a 2004 Boxster sound system (jl amps, pioneer avic130bt,focal speakers) using several of the diys posted here as guidance. my question is, has anyone figured out how to wire the switched power so that the stereo stays powered until you remove the key from the ignition switch? Thanks.
  4. Thanks for the diy. Question about glare. How is the on screen visibility with the top down and on a sunny day?
  5. Dharn55-can you tell me more about your speaker upgrade to Focals. Size, model. Did you have the Bose sound system?
  6. Picking up replacement ('04 Boxster S) for my totalled '02 Boxster S

  7. Did you replace the crankshaft position sensor with the engine in the car? If so, can you tell me how you managed to do it. If you have any pictures would be greatly appreciated. The location and access points are, from what I found this weekend, impossible. Joe
  8. Have p codes p1397 and p0336, and for the life of me, I cannot locate the cam sensor on the engine. I've seen diagrams so I know in the general area where the sensor is supposed to be located but haven't had any luck finding it. Has anyone replaced one, and if so, do you have any guidance or pictures you might want to share? Code says it's on bank 2. Also, any info on replacing the speed sensor would also be greatly appreciated. Joe 2002 boxster s
  9. Would not buy from Wheel Dynamics. Their service is questionable at best. Purchased wheels for my Boxster and they put the wrong size lug nuts on one of my wheels. It's been rubbing up against the parking brake and am waiting for them to send replacements. Their response has been, how can I be p.c., laxidasical. The owner didn't have the courtesy to return my phone calls and didn't have the stones to come to the phone. DO NOT BUY FROM THESE GUYS. If I sound pissed off, I am.
  10. I've had the same problem for awhile, codes P1128 and P1130, and could never find what caused the codes to keep coming up. Then this weekend I changed the spark plug tubes, O rings and spark plugs. Around Tuesday or Wednesday of this week after about 100 miles of driving, the CEL went out. Any ideas what the repairs I did would have done to effect the problem causing the fault codes to go away?
  11. While changing my spark plugs this weekend noticed this elbow shaped connector without anything attached and was wondering if anybody can tell me what it's for. Thanks.
  12. I guess my initial counter clockwise turning of the tensioner was the culprit. It loosened the back nut of the tensioner enough so that when I was turning the outside bolt clockwise the nut was turning. Once the light went on in me noggin of what was goin on and I tightened the back nut, the tensioner work as designed. Hope my experience may help someone else.
  13. PK, It's not that the bolt was tight, I could get it to turn, it's that the tensioner didn't move. I did get it to finally move. Did it the caveman method, took a rubber mallet and got it to spring to the left and was able to remove the belt. Hope I'm able to get the tension back when I finish the job. Thanks for your pointers. Joe
  14. Trying to change the water pump this morning and all prepared, however, when it came to the belt tensioner, nothing happens. I first turned the 24mm bolt counter-clockwise (don't know if this contributed to the problem), then I went to the Bentley book and discovered that you turn the bolt clockwise. Did that and nothing appears to happen. I think I notice a slight release of tension but not enough to remove the belt. Anyone out there today, Saturday June13th that could offer any help suggestions on what may be the problem and how to overcome this would be greatly appreciated. 2002 Boxster S. Thanks, Joe
  15. I think I've solved the elusive rattle. It turns out to be the retaining strip for the top. One end popped out of its socket and was dangling and this caused the rattle that sounded like the window rattling. Can't believe it was such a small thing that I should have discovered before investing the time and money in a new regulator. E-bay here I come.
  16. I have a rattle coming from the passenger door that sounds like the window is hitting against something when I go over rough road or bumps. Happens whether window is up or down. Pulled the panel and checked everything out. Made sure the window was snug in the window regulator clamps. Put everything back together still rattled. Opened it up again and adjusted the bottom adjusters on the window regulator. Buttoned it up again. Still rattled. Thought there seemed to be a little lateral play in the window regulator, so replaced that this weekend. Put everything back together a third time (whose counting). Rattle is still there. Tried the electrical tape on the u-shaped door locking bracket (as someone had suggested in another topic). No help. Just required a little more effort when closing the door. Any ideas? I'm getting to feel like the Gene Hackman character in "The Conversation". Thanks, Joe 2002 Boxster S
  17. Maurice, Will try third possibility. Had panel off and checked recommendations 1 and 2. Thanks, Joe
  18. I have a rattle in my passenger side door that sounds like it's coming from the window hitting up against the top (when the top is up) and rattles in the door when the window is down. There seems to be some play in the track (window regulator) as compared to the driver's side (recently replaced the regulator). I can wiggle the window a bit when the window is up. Has anybody heard or experienced the tracks in the regulator (I believe they are plastic holders/clamps) wearing out and allowing for slop/play in the tracking or clamping of the window, thus allowing the window to rattle about? Do I need to bite the bullet and replace the window regulator or is there a cheaper fix? Thanks, Joe
  19. Thanks, Maurice. Cayvman: Here's a photo my friend "Boxtaboy" over on PPBB dug up which is what you are looking for: This is a strap that has been supplied by Robbins only in the very recent past. Regards, Maurice.
  20. I had the top on my '02 S replaced with a glass window (at Markel's in WLA). Top is fine, smaller window has taken some time to get used to. However, one question about the change. Do the other brands, Robbins and GAHH(?) force one to use a strap to keep the top in service mode? And if so, any idea where one can get a strap?
  21. FM Reception's great. AM sucks. Nada. juniinc, what impact does this have on AM, doesn't sound like it would be good.
  22. Andy, Got most everything together (need to install passenger door speaker). Running door speakers as sub (thinking that maybe should have gone the Kicker speaker route) and system sounds very good. One small problem, though, AM reception is nil. Do I need to get an antenna amplifier? Joe
  23. Loren, Can you send me a link or info on the wiring diagram. Getting ready to install new audio hu and speakers and a map of the spaghetti would be helpful and much appreciated. Thanks, Joe
