  2. I appreciate it. Hopefully we can try it tomorrow. Thanks again Rich Ohio Valley Region PCA had a tech session yesterday at one of our Porsche dealers. The Porsche tech was nice enough to try your instructions on how to turn on the cruise control. He was skeptical that it would work. After trying it wrong the first time and then following your instructions, step by step, he was able to get into the part of the program to turn on the instrument cluster. We got a cruise control indicator light to come on and after taking a test ride, the the cruise worked perfectly. I want to Loren for his help getting this cruise working. If I couldn't I probably would have sold the car and looked for another. Thanks again to Loren and the technical forum. Rich

  4. Loren I can't find my or your last post but to reiterate. I have a 03S Boxster and couldn't get access to the instrument cluster with the programmer at a Porsche dealer or at my independant Porsche mechanic's shop. You replied that some 03 and 04 cars left the factory without the model code in the DME. I talked to my indendant Porsche mechanic and to two Porsche dealer without finding anyone who knew what the model code should be. One suggested that he might be able to take a code off of another 03 Boxster that has an OBC but wasn't certain that it would work or if it did what it might do to the future information that might be needed to retrieve from the DME. Can you tell me what the code should be or where it might be found? Will this effect the DME at a later date or void the warrantee? Also the dealer's mechanic indicated that there are two different part numbers for a Boxster instrument cluster. The one without an OBC is #98664121302 and the cluster with an OBC is #98664123302. Tommorow we have a regional Porsche tech session at one of the dealers. Possibly I they will have more information for me then. If I had the model code I think they would program the DME for me them. If not I know either independant mechanic or the other dealer is willing. Thanks for your help. Rich
  5. I received some information from the forum about added cruise control to my 03 S Boxster. The information indictated that all the connecting would be from the cruise control stalk(I have installed a four stalk unit) to the grey connector on the instrument cluster. I had the cruise control switched on today after wiring as per the diagram. Unfortunatly the cruise didn't work. Does anyone have any idea what the problem might be? I rechecked the wiring and it is correct and all the connections checked out.
  6. I did the mod on my 03S, went from a 2 stalk to a 4 stalk. It's pretty straightforward, make sure you have all the wires (the 009 and 010) and assemble the harnesses in advance and you're ready to go. Make sure you have a 24mm socket for the steering wheel nut and put the connectots in (on the yellow cables) with the spring clip outwards, then you have a chance of removing them if needed and they will not short on each other. Oh... I should mention... my car is Tiptronic so no clutch switch, not sure if that is needed or how it is done, sorry. Chris. Chris Thanks for the info. Can you tell me if the description of the hack posted by Ed B is correct for a 03. There is some reference about how the 03 might be different than the 02 and earlier cars. I want be be sure that Ihave all the information straight before I take my car apart again. Thanks Rich
  7. On all the cars I have seen the clutch switch is already in place and wired up. The brake disengage function comes from the brake light circuit. Richard I have a 03 Boxster S and have read just about all the posts up to this point having to do with installing cruised control in my car. I have already purchased the four stalk switch. Most of the posts talk about 2000 to 2001 cars. Is there anything different about a 2003 installation? Thanks Rich
