  1. wow, where'd you get that pic? is there a similar one for the Boxster 550 SE? aloha steve I was wondering about the polished wheels as well, although I have yet to see them up close. Does anyone know what "shot blasted" wheels are? Cheers! <{POST_SNAPBACK}> <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
  2. the wheels are not chrome, but very shiny metal, and look just like the carrera 5 spokes aloha steve I was wondering about the polished wheels as well, although I have yet to see them up close. Does anyone know what "shot blasted" wheels are? Cheers! <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
  3. jan 15 for USA, ibelieve the nov 26 is ROW aloha steve
  4. congrats on the new car, you're gonna love it when you can really give it some revs the problem with the key on the left will soon become, "when i get in other cars i try to put the key on the left" :) aloha steve
  5. i have a 2004 550 SE i tried to change the air filter and use the BMC that i got from MMD for my 2002S the air filter is indeed different i didn't try and get the air filter out, because it was obviously round (like in the 987 drawing), so i cannot comment on the difficulty of removal aloha steve
  6. i believe the spare tire option is only available in those countries that require a spare aloha steve Option code 447??? Is a spare now an available option for 06? I asked my salesman here in Canada a few weeks ago if there was a spare tire option for 06 and he said no. Can you give more info on this option 447? Is this a Boxster option? How much $$$ for this option? Thanks for your insight. Jim <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
  7. no, i am referring to the housing the lip was raised to prevent water and cigarette butts forom being ingested aloha steve
  8. it's designed that way it was changed to keep out water and cigarettes from the intake aloha steve
  9. be sure to check with the insurance company, the difference betw generic and OEM can be significant i was told to order the trim strip that goes around the glass because it is frequently ruined when removing the old glass there is a different color for certain models (ie boxster vs boxster s) some people were told not to drive for a while to let the glue set, but i was not told that when i had mine done make sure the dashboard and interior pillars are still in good shape wwith nno gouges or extra glue before you leave the shop i asked for a recommendation at the p-car dealer and they were an approved shop for my insurance company, so it was all good aloha steve
  10. yup, that looks about right similar in shape, but not the exact same part as the 986 do you want me to open it up later on to confirm/take pictures? mahalo (thanks) for the confirmation on the 987 past aloha steve
  11. aloha jeff the 550 SE filter is definetely different from the '04 986S filter i tried to put my BMC (purchased from MMD back in the day) from my '02S in my SE and it wasn't even close i can't remember what size or shape it was, i opened up the engine last fall :(l K & N website does not list any filters available for 987 yet i was told the SE filter is from the 987, but your info indeicates it is from the 997- mahalo (thanks) for the tip aloha steve
  12. aloha jeff did you look into whether or not there was a replacement for the tires you had it seems to me for a tire to be that much cheaper, there is probably a newer model that supercedes what you own (which is now 4+ year old technology) or there may be newer compounds/technology that you can take advantage of in the meantime, be careful driving on those rear tires :) aloha steve
  13. are the wheel crests a separate part from the centers? do i have to buy them as a set or can i just get one? how are they attached? i lost on from the driver's side front tire i looked and there are some remnants of glue, are they rivetted on too? i wonder if it fell off or it was stolen aloha steve
  14. black metallic is sometimes referred to as "root beer" metallic this is misleading, though in some lights it does appear to have brown undertones basalt black metallic can best be described as looking at a gravestone, with that shiny, silver-blue look to it does that help? if not, ask me more and i'll clarify aloha steve
  15. aloha al b what number are you? i don't have the noise, but my top creaks over bumps more than my previous '02 S did aloha steve 1466/1953 gt sil/nat grey/bl
  16. nope, just parked the car, and when i restarted it, it was making the noise and then, this morning, everything is fine aloha steve
  17. no matter what source i choose, there is only a high pitched sound coming from my speakers can anyone help me? aloha steve
  18. with BOSE? am used to doing this on an '02 S with plastic window, but i cannot figure out the easy way to pull back the convertible top with the glass rear window i tried it with the top almost all the way open, almost all the way closed, and halfway open is there a trick to this? and then, how do i take off the speaker box for the tweeters and sub- it looks like there is a plug on the passenger side, is this an easy removal? mahalo (thanks) in advance aloha steve
  19. should i be worried about cracking or damaging the painted finish on this piece or do i just pry up really hard like i did with the black plastic piece on my old car? trying to install the touch top on my new car aloha steve
  20. brandywine porsche lists on ebay frequently perhaps you could contact them and ask for the ebay price aloha steve
  21. this product works as advertised, BUT the downside is that it leaves a "film" on the car that makes the water sheet off when it rains later and doesn't give you that cool "just waxed" beading look i said on ppbb, a great product for SUVs and minivans, but not for people who like clean, polished cars just my 2 cents aloha steve
  22. on the old system, you could just put in the appropriate european cd if you do tourist delivery, they gave you the discs for the countries you planned to visit one would hope that this holds true for the new system, too aloha steve
  23. is it possible to remove the side mirrors to take off the black piece that joins the mirror to the body so we can send it to the plug guy for painting? aloha steve
