  1. Thanks guys, I will try clean the TB out AND drop a grade when refueling.
  2. Hi Loren and guys, I was wondering if anyone can help. My Porsche runs really well. However, while idling she seems to drop 650-600rpm every 2-3 seconds. Sounds like she is has a flat spot. Any suggestions on how to get her to idle constant?
  3. My problem turned out to be the center console switch. Bypassed the switch and so far no alarm. Keeping my fingers crossed. One more problem though is my horn. It seems though the rubber spacing when pressing the horn has fallen out of place or something. When I turn you can actually hear the relay clicking away as if I were rapidly pressing the horn until I straighten the steering again. The horn does not work since I think this shorting has blown the fuse. Does anyone have the fuse box diagram so I can check which is the horn fuse and replace it.
  4. Hi Loren, I have done a search and did not find anything on how to remove the steering cover to check the bushings. Can I just pull it off gently? Also, I could not find the fuse box diagram, is anyone willing to share this with me please.
  5. Hi Guys, It has been a while since I posted and want to start off by wishing you a Happy Holidays. Anyway, I need some help or directions on how to remove my steering cover. It seems that the switch inside the cover is shorting and causing the horn to sound intermittently and it is getting worse. I would like to take the cover off and check what the problem is. Also, does anyway have the fuse box layout diagram so that I can pull the fuse in order to trouble shoot? Any help will be appreciated! Thanks!
  6. LOL! Actually I a BAD BAD BAD Porsche owner. My poor baby! LOL! A lesson well learnt. I guess I will see that specific branch in Small Claims soon. We are disputing the charges, etc, etc, etc. Thanks guys, but as I mentioned I know nothing of who to goto. You kind of think that if it has a brand name like "Shytco...." oops I meant, "Maaco" you will get a good job done or your monies worth, clearly I got my monies worth. Thanks for all your input.
  7. I took my car to Maaco to get some work done on my right door and rear quarter panel. Had some scratched and my car got keyed. Anyway, got it back 8 days later. I am not a paint job buff so everything looked good from a distance. Anyway, I got the car appraised the same day. The appraiser came to me and asked if I had been in any accidents of which I said no but just had some scratched removed. Anyway, he told me that he wanted to show me some things he found that reduced the value of the vehicle since they were clearly visible to him. I know, it makes me look like a dumba$$. Nonetheless, he showed me trash in the paint on the door and panel. Clearly over 9. I found 20 in the door and over 30 in the rear panel. ALSO, overspray all over my car. You could actually feel the roughage on my windshield and front panel. I found overspray all over. I called the shop and told them of my findings. I took it back the next day. When I got there I told they owner of that branch what I had found and who found it. He claimed that whoever I try sell the car to is going to find a reason to give you less. I responded with, "That's not the point!" Anyway, he was trying to say that it's not going to be perfect. I told him I understand that, but to have as many trash spots as there were, that it was bad a bad shop, especially since I had overspray on my car. I gave him the alternate since he was trying to change his tone about his workmanship. I said either you fix it or I dispute the charges. He then went on to lift his right hand, waved and said, "Bye Bye!" I was shocked at his response. I responded politely said, I just want the problem fixed. He told me that I needed to leave it with him and get will get it back that after noon. I told him that I will fetch it the next day. I got there the next morning and was told that had only started on my car and it would take 15 minutes. 1 hr later my car came out. I was pissed by that time. I went out and look at it once again and still noticed the overspray on my hood that had been half done and still trash in the paint. Now anybody in their right sense in that business would check the whole car, I know I would. No he did not! I told him I wanted it all off. He said it would take another 15 minutes. 1 hour later I got the car back, this time I noticed white speckles, almost like scratched on my hood. It seems they buffered so hard that lifted some paint repair off some spots that had been on the hood. I was livered. I look at it and took my car and left. I am now disputing the workmanship and poor service from Maaco. I thought I could take it to a trust brand name company who would do an ok shop and not the shoddy job I got back. Please be careful is all I can say. I can post picture of the poor work they did for those who wish to see. Has anyone else had problems with MAACO?
  8. Hi Guys, I have been having problems with my alarm system, always something going wrong. Anyway, Everything works fine when I lock/unlock the car using either remote or key. However, after about 20-50 minutes the alarm goes off. I have ensured that all doors are locked etc but it still does it. I did checked under the seat (did not remove it, just lifted the carper) and found a very little water. I check the felt around the alarm unit area and all seems to be dry. When I activate the alarm using the key or remote I get the following red flashes off the dash alarm signal indicator. 10 red flashes when activated and then 2 flashes about everyt 2 or 3 seconds there after. Is this normal? I don't recall this many flashes when everything worked fine. Can anyone with the same boxster tell me what yours flashes? :help: I am puzzled. Any help would be appreciated.
  9. I seem to be having a prob with my alarm. Everything works fine, however, the alarm will sound about 20-50 minutes after the car is locked. I have check all doors, trunk and hood to ensire closure, but still goes off. Any ideas what could be wrong? This is very strange!!!!
  10. Yes, sure does. The switch that the two wires plug into.
  11. Ok, so I decided to get under the dash and disconnect the clutch switch and bypass it to see if this indeed could be the problem. :D It was, she starts with every turn and no delays. I love it. Loren, do you know the part # of the clutch switch that I need to replace? I have not yet removed it and just want to make sure I order the correct switch before i start messing around with it. All I know is that it is grey.
  12. trieullionaire - Where did you get the rear spoiler? She is a beaty!!! :D
  13. That is an awesome job. Do you mind me asking what that set you back approximately? Just curious since I am looking to upgrade my radio soon.
  14. Here's another idea by Kenwood for a single Din especially if you want to have a navigation system on board. I saw this at Best Buy and they're on clearance now, if you can find it in stock. I have a the Bose system in my 2002, sounds decent but thought about updating the radio and adding navigation. The unit also has DVD, something I would never plan on using. I'm not sure how compatible it would be with the Bose system, otherwise I would do it. Not sure if it's worth using the bose amp or if I should put in a new one. Crutchfield has a package including navigation for 1100.00 bucks. That's the second link. Also, on the Crutchfield website you can determine if a radio is compatible for your car. Or one that would fit without to much modification. Good luck! http://www.crutchfield.com/App/Product/Ite...amp;i=113617DVD http://www.crutchfield.com/App/Product/Ite...amp;i=700NAV617 Thanks for the site Keither. I am making a purchase online through that website.
  15. Thanks guys. I will scratch that idea then. Now, can anyone tell me what the dimension are for the radio? Are they close to 169 x 182 x 53 (mm) ? I am looking at an aftermarket radio.
  16. Chris/Loren, Do you know if the CDR23 will work in the 2000 Boxster? What is different about this radio and the standard radio the fits in the 2000 boxster?
  17. In that case, can I go ahead and get the following bulbs off ebay? HID Bulb Also, does anyone know where I can get a used passenger headlight unit. I managed to get a used driver side off eBay, but for some reason cannot find a passenger side. Does anyone have contacts or links to a place where I can get a bargain?
  18. Does anyone have an idea as to what headlight bulbs to use that will not cause any damage to the lights? Currently it looks as if the current bulbs in the lights may be too high since they are slowly burning yellow stains in the lens. I was thinking of blue bulb effect if anyone has those installed. Would I need to do a conversion, etc for the blue lights? Forgive my grammar, I am not to savvy on the mechanical lingo.
  19. Thanks again Maurice! I am curious though! Everything else electronically works just fine in my car except the starting. I cannot imagine that the immobilizer would be the culprit for not starting the car on the first turn. I am at a loss; I don't want to go spend more cash on a new immobilizer when it turns out to be just the ignition system. I am seriously confused. I mean, when I put the key in, everything comes on as normal, it's just when I turn the key to start it. Sometimes it takes a couple of seconds, sometimes it takes 20 seconds. The car turns off and the key can be removed without it getting stuck, etc. Everything works just fine except when trying to start it.
  20. Maurice, I would have to agree with you. However, I cannot pindown the actualy reasons why I have intermittent starting problems. If you do find the link, I would appreciate the read. Thanks.
  21. Has anyone heard of the immobilizer unit to cause the starting problems? I have replaced the ignition switch several times and I still get the same problem when starting the car. It seems that I have to hold the key in start for several seconds before the engine turns. Has anyone experienced this before or heard of the immobilizer causing this problem?
  22. Thanks guys! Let me do some searching to see what I can say.
  23. Ok, can anyone give me their opinion concerning the attached quote? I purchased my Porsche in Oct 2006 with 51K. It currently just has over 60K on the clock. Since I first got it I have noticed that the suspension has gotten worse, they CEL engine keeps on coming on and my ignition switch seems to be acting up, or so I think. When I spoke to the mechanic about the starting problem, he basically said that it is not always the ignition switch that is causing the starting problem. Sometimes I have to hold the key in the start position until it finally turns. Sometimes it starts after 2 seconds, sometimes after 30 seconds, and sometimes longer. Apparently the immobilizer is the key culprit. Has anyone ever heard of this before? Also, after time I noticed that the front end would vibrate a lot and the steering shock viciously when in a slight turn between a certain speeds. Now I would never expect the following problems with a vehicle with 60K, unless I am so wrong about Porsche. Then another problem arose when my oil light would flash intermittently when at idle and a screeching sound would come from the engine area. I took it to the mechanic and take a look at the attachment to see what I was slapped with. Has anyone had this much luck with 60K on the clock?
  24. Thanks Tool Pants. I will give it a shot.
