  1. I prefer my official Porsche dealership for most repairs - other than that, personally I find this a good address for parts Carnewal
  2. The Pirelli Corsas Systems are indeed the best option for dry and wet handling. Anything non racing compound will pay-off during the occassional rain shower (when unless your name is Schumacher or Alonso it's anyway ill-advised to push the throttle too heavily in a GT3) but also curtail the typical pleasure of the GT3 in dry conditions. Also compared to the Michelin Sports Cup they offer precisely what you want more in the wet - deeper tread depth and more adapted tire profile.
  3. Assuming you know what you do and how to - good luck. Personnally I would never even think of doing this on my own:eek: . On something else you could take opportunity of to replace or modify, I heard the flywheel is interesting to mod on the GT3 up to RS standard (single-mass). But this depends if you're a track freak or not.
  4. @ Craig: I would not be able to say if it sounds like spring/strut wear - No clue what this specifically should sound like  @ KBrandsma: One can hear it inside the cabin indeed coming from the airbag - steering wheel area BUT it is also audible when the car is at standstill, engine off, and you put your ears close to the front wheel :o
  5. I'm experiencing an annoying creaking sound from the steering wheel column on my '07 997 GT3. Bought it 2nd hand, Porsche Approved in Germany at 35.000 kms. Between April and now it's been in the dealership for repair twice now - first they replaced the front stabiliser silent blocks, sound remained (came back after a while), then a second time, they replaced some wear parts of the front axle as well as the anti-vibration pads from the front brakes ... again, after a few miles, sound came back like before. The sound comes while driving but also at standstill when turning the steering- wheel. Car runs perfectly well but that noise is just not OK in such a car. I don't want to bring it endlessly into the dealership either. Any useful hint would be welcome.:notworthy:
  6. "Creaking sound from the steering wheel column" - exactly what I'm experiencing on my '07 997 GT3. 7. The sound in the front coil springs is quite common indeed. Had it on the 996 Turbo and also occasionally on the 997 GT3.
  8. I can confirm this is normal also on GT3's - Mine does it as well and Porsche Mechanics argue this is because of the more heavy duty engine/transmission/clutch meant to be able to endure the release of the HP cavalerie .
  9. The Pirelli Corsas are indeed a great compromise for more road oriented use. I have them on my Clubsport. They offer excellent grip throughout and do a great job in the rain also (sufficient tread depth). In comparison the Michelin Sport Cups are too extreme if you spend most of your time driving roads - and also they wear off more quickly, with their 3mm tread depth only). On a dry track they are supreme obviously, second only to slicks . By the way, it's great to be back on the forum since a long time . I'll post some pics of my new 911 soon.
