  1. Nice, I've got a pretty extensive toolkit but I keep hearing about all the 'special' tools need to be able to work on these P-cars...is this true? Will I need to invest a significant amount of $$ in new tools? Thanks!
  2. I was curious is anyone has any experience with this company. Achilles99 has an x50 with the upsolute upgrade and didn't notice much of an upgrade. I've been trying to read up on people who have the Upsolute flash, and haven't found any except for achilles99. These are their claims for a stock 911T: Stock --> Flashed 420hp --> 510hp 413 ft/lb --> 487 ft/lb http://www.upsolute.com/db/new/datenblatt_...e=18&ID=281 If these claims are just for their tune(and no other supporting mods), I'd be very impressed to get this amount of HP for $700. Does anyone have any experience getting these numbers? Thanks, Gixxed
  3. 2001 doesn't have a glove compartment? Where will I put my gloves?? :P J/K...so all you 2001 owners where do you keep your paperwork for the car? What is there in place of the glove compartment?
  4. Thanks! This has some great information for potential buyers! I'm glad to see that I will not be the only one with a baby seat in the back. B)
  5. Ah, didn't realize you were including depreciation of the car in that.
  6. Wow, that sounds excessive. So if I use the car as my daily, figure 15k miles/year = $13,500 year?
  7. I am positive that you are aware that the actual maintenace cost will depend on the condition of the car. 1. Figure for a new set of original equipment tires every year if you use it on a daily basis and one alignment. - US$1,500.00 2. I will use the major service for budget (since it is the most expensive, it includes belts, spark plugs, etc.) and add a Brake flush - US$1,500.00 3. I like to do an oil change every 7500 miles. This will mean an additional US$235.84 That is a total of US$3,235.84. I would round it up to US$4-5K per year just as a budget exercise (better to budget on the high side) to include any odd expenses that could come up. Also, depending on the condition of the clutch if you need to replace it budget around US$3,200.00 for parts and labor (good time to go with a light flywheel setup). Also our cars tend to consume slave clutch cylinders, master cylinders, accumulators. So far mine have been covered under warranty so I do not have the cost of those... but something to keep in mind. Budget for a set of diverter valves - aprox 280 for both. Stock units are weak and tend to go with time. Best to replace with the billet units. Hope that helps! How is the scheduled maintenance setup? First is at 30k, then 60k? Exactly what I was looking for, thanks!
  8. Can you guys shed some light on how much yearly maintenance would cost on a 2001 996 TT with 50k miles? How about 20k miles? Yearly going forward? Thanks!
  9. Can this tool reset the codes for mechanical over-rev that dealers use to void warranties? Kinda scary if this is possible...
  10. :o I'm new to Porsche and have been saving my pennies for a few years to get in on the fun. I've read some horror stories about the 2nd gear popout issue, and that makes me nervous as I'll be stretching myself a bit to get the car in the first place. :( I'm guessing that the car I'll eventually get will be a 2001 with around 40-50k miles on it so it will not have any warranty on it... I've been doing some research on the differences between these years, and cannot find much detailed info. I've called PCNA and they sent me brochures of each year and the most I can tell from skimming them is color options, and getting a BOSE radio in 2k2. Are there any other major differences? I'd read somewhere that there are upgraded ammenities in 2k2, anybody know what they are? Thanks, Gixxed
