Today I went and drove a really beautiful 02 996 TT with 10,000 miles...used mostly for councours....but driven sparingly. One owner, all records available...all options except X50 (which I wanted but ??). color was a very attractive light blue, so it wasnt' the more frequently seen colors of silver, red, or black. No CPO available....but no stories.....PO keeps an immaculate stable of cars. He wants $72K. What's the crowd who BTDT say?
Buy :notworthy:
Forget X50, just get a UMW stage 2

Does this apply to RoW cars?
Also, how do I check if my front seats have already been replaced?
Thanks.

Rob (artic silver),
If you are saying you hardwired your V1 to your sunroof power source, I would totally love to get photos as well as explanation. I have heard that this is the better (and easiest) way to hardwire a V1. Thanks in advance for all your insights and experienece!!!!!
cheers,
Steven
Hi Guys.... sorry for the long delay. I've been out of town and somewhat out of the loop for a while. I'm back now and will get photos taken tomorrow.
Thanks,
Rob :)
I followed this set of instructions I found on the web - installed it in 1 hr, quite straightforward!

PorschePhd on 6speed might know? He has taken apart and rebuilt a 996TT engine ..
-
Thanks for the instructions. Would anyone happen to have pics/diagram of the layout of the engine bay? Just got my K&N today and want to DIY it over the weekend.
Cheers.

Hi,
Fine weather in Tokyo, so I figure I would do some fun driving in the countryside with my roof open and windows down. What happened was that when I am between 2000-3000rpm, there is this really nasty resonance coming from the car. This seems to happen only when my roof is open.
Is this what everyone calls "droning"? Presumably getting an aftermarket exhaust would eliminate it?
Cheers

The second one is a factory sport silver used in MY03 and newer Boxsters.
Thanks Loren. Would you happen to know the part number for the storage tray (which replaces the ashtray) that goes with 996 552 902 00 B12?
Also do you know if that completes the setup?
Thanks!

Hi,
I am trying to get a alu-look rear center console for my 2003 996TT. I have found a part with this number:
996 552 902 00 B12
but searching through this forum I found another part number:
986 552 995 09 v03
Does anyone happen to know what the difference is?
Also what else do I need to complete the whole thing? Presumably:
- non-smoker kit
- cover for handbrake
- side panel?
Thanks!

Sorry for such a late response. I'm travelling now, but I will get some photos posted for you sometime next week when I return.
Rob
Hi Rob,
No problem at all! Take your time. I can always plug the V1 in the lighter plug for now.

Hello,
I just got a 2003 X50 2 weeks ago and have hard-wired a V1 into the car. Removing the trim and going down the A-Pillar isn't necessary at all. I removed the trim piece that covers the sunroof motor area, and was able to find a switched 12v wire in there that I could tap into. A grounding point was also easy to find in this area.
This allowed me to stash the little power module in the same area, and run a custom 12" phone cord to the V1 which is located just above and to the left of the rearview mirror.
If you'd like photos, etc. please let me know.
Rob
Hi,
Thanks for the info. Since I am not very experienced with this kind of stuff, some photos would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks in advance!

I was told the boost hoses were improved starting with 2002. You could probably save your money on those. The F hose would be a good idea to replace if you are doing the divertors. Use the aftermarket silicon one.
Roger
Thanks for the advice, I am thinking of the EVO F-hose and diverter valves. Any experience with it?
-
Yes it is good preventative maintenance, especially if you are going to mod. You can think about doing the boost hoses at the same time. Good luck, enjoy the car.
Thanks for the advice kris. I'll do it next time I take the car to the shop.
And I just got the durametic software to dump out any codes, and luckily, none found

Does anyone have instructions on how to hard wire a V-1 radar detector in a 2003 911 Turbo? I want to mount the detector on the upper portion of the winsheild and would like to run the wire along the top (between headliner and windshield). I assume the wire would run down the A pilar, under the dsah to a power source.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Keith,
Come on down and I will do it for you. Hey while your here you can help me with the door handles....
Gary
Sorry to resurrect this ancient topic, but I just found myself trying to do the exact same thing - wiring in a V1 to a 2003 996TT. The pics in the original thread (on the other forum) seem to be gone - would anyone happen to have the info?
Thanks.

Hi!
Just want to say hi from Tokyo! I just bought my first Porsche, a 2003 996TT today.
One question: sounds like the diverter valve is something that I will need to replace eventually. Would you recommend that I just go ahead and do it now?

:welcome:
MY02 added/changed the following:
Glove box added
New style cup holders
Seat belt tensioners with belt-force limiters
Seat and mirror memory via remote control
New sound and radio package (BOSE)
A (slightly newer) PCM1 Navigation system
All engine, transmission, suspension and brakes are the same from MY01 to MY02.
Thanks very much Loren for the info! In that case, I probably would go for the 01TT.
Any common problems that I should keep in mind when I take it to the dealer for a check up?
Thank you!

Greetings from Tokyo!
I am considering to get my first Porsche, and I am looking mainly at 01-02 TT. I notice that there is a substantial price difference (larger than the diff between 02 and 03) between 01 and 02 TT even when they are of about the same mileage. Would that be because 02 is dramatically improved over 01 or there are some problems with 01?
01 fits more into my budget but if 02 is much improved, it probably would be worthwhile to spend that extra money!
Thanks.
Ron
997TT intercoolers same as 996GT2?
in 996 TT, 996 TT S, 996 GT2
Posted
why do you think intercoolers would give you earlier boost?
if that's what you want you should be looking at ecu flash with hybrid turbos
upgraded intercoolers only help you on a hot day / during track session, if you have upgraded turbos
