  1. I'm going to respectfully disagree with JFP. Numerous detailing professionals and us normal people use a pressure washer to wash cars. I suggest further reading at Detailers Domain, Ammo NYC, Adams Polishes for more information. I use an electric pressure washer for my gar. Gas versions may produce to much PSI and flow rate that can be an issue in car washing.
  2. Initially I believed this as I lost the date around Jan 2 2019. But after meeting up with many other 997 owners they have the correct date displayed. Recently my time will not stay sync'd. I'm betting my PCM is starting to fail and its not related to the GPS rollover.
  3. This is a known issue on 997's. Static during polishing/buffing around the headlights, and even the headlights can cause the Front Control module to fail. Pull the headlights out if polishing them to avoid this issue.
  4. I contacted Becker Service that builds the PCM's and discussed with them the issue with the incorrect/missing date. It is something they have seen on occasion and may be related to two possible issues. CAN BUS communication issue with the Porsche Instrument cluster - This would need to be checked by using something like a PIWIS or Durametric or other code reader and verifying no codes are present. Clear/Fix any error codes and see if the date returns. If no errors then see next. Corruption with the PCM software - They state the PCM is very sensitive to voltage spikes, low power, battery change etc especially as the units start to get older. Generally can be fixed by sending the unit in for repair. They told me a bench test is $75 and if nothing else is wrong other than the date the repair fee would be "reasonably less" than the usual $500-$750.
  5. Since Becker actually makes these units I sent them an email today with a few pictures and all the SW/firmware versions on my unit. Lets see if they respond.
  6. Not sure which code scanner you have. Not all scanners can clear codes or its dependent on the model. Are you a PCA member? Maybe someone in the club has a Durametric Pro / Foxwell NT510/520 or similar setup that can try to clear the code for you. Definitely try to get the code cleared first and go from there. This is a known issue back to when the 997 was first sold.
  7. Quick search led me to another forum. They also had a C127 fault code. There is a control module in the front trunk/bumper area that can fault and give weird issues. Have you recently polished the car? Trunk open OK with release and key? Can the code scanner reset codes?
  8. LAPower (Mr 12 Volt) BT adapter. Long thread about this on Rennlist 997 forum.
  9. My date is incorrect and does not display on the main PCM display now. The time and timezone are correct at least. I've tried different date formats too. If I have time I may run down to my local indy that has PIWIS and see if that helps the issue. Its a small annoyance. Porsche could do something about this as it appears to be a programming bug. There is a PCM update disk set being sold by a vendor and they have a 2015/2016 maps update. I may try that and see if that corrects the issue if nothing else fixes it.
  10. It did have a newer battery prior to purchase. I did disconnect the battery to do the Alt-Starter battery cable change but that was back in Sept. The date was displaying correctly until new years day. Maybe I will take it to my local indy as he has PIWIS and see if he can do a reset.
  11. Very interesting. My PCM is at Rev B but using older maps disk. I will change the date format and see if anything changes. Keep us posted if the date sticks
  12. Yep - You are missing the date in the Main display. I called my local Pcar dealer but I got the usual bring it in and we can look into it - for a fee or course. Anyone have a PCNA contact as I think this is a weird problem (bug) , albeit small, in the grand scheme of things. Im hearing more people report this across other Porsche forums.
  13. Out of curiosity do you have a date displayed on the Main PCM screen or is it missing? Mine still says 01/09/2000 and is not on the Main screen any longer.
  14. If you have Navigation the time/date can be auto updated via GPS signals
  15. This is being reported on other forums for the 997 and early Cayenne's and I'm in the same boat along with a coworker. The date display on the PCM is blank while all other settings are correct. Ive done the 1,4,8 reboot and pulled the fuses etc. I have 8-11 Sats locked in and the map follows me correctly. This just started a few days after the new year. I suspect there is a firmware bug in the PCM with the coming 2019 GPS Week Rollover. I wonder if a PCM Nav update to the latest SW & maps (2015/2016) works around this?
  16. I'm planning on doing this replacement with the excellent DIY documentation found here. However, my 997 is a Tip - is there anything significantly different in performing this from a MT before I get started? I have not found anything specific at this point other than the correct part # for Tip's Thanks
  17. I would search all over other forums. Comments regarding MotorMeister are mostly not positive.
