  1. What is the part number for this switch? This switch detects whether the storage box is closed or not and with it not working everytime you arm the alarm the car horn beeps to tell you that something is not secure. The other more important question is whether this switch comes with the small plastic mounting bracket? This is what is really broken. Looking at the assembly I suspect the bracket and switch come as the two are riveted together. MY 2004 Boxster S Thanks, Ken
  2. When you put the top into service mode the first thing you doe is remove the 2 cables. The next thing you do is unclip the apron with the u channel gutter from the wall at the back of the top storage compartment. It is these 2 plastic clips that mount to the wall and hold the gutter that are broken. Looking at the drawing in the Bently manual it appears these are metal but on my '04 they are plastic so I am guessing there was MY change. What is the part number for these clips? Thanks Ken
  3. Ok, I got the car into the dealer and had the problem fixed on the last day of warranty. How is that for timing? The airbag fault code they pulled from the computer was 87. I tried to search for this code on this site but was unsuccessful, so if anybody knows I would appreciate what this code translates to. To correct the issue they ended up pulling the passenger seat, removing the lower trim panel and partially removing the front center console to inspect the wiring. Finally they ended up replacing passenger side airbag sensor. They didn't list the part number on the work invoice so again if somebody knows I would appreciate the info. I am glad this job was under warranty because pulling all these pieces out and putting them back in would have been expensive at $115/hour. Since t was in for warranty work I also had them replace the o-rings on the coolant tank expansion valve as that has been leaking over the last year.
  4. Three times now in the last month I have had the airbag warning light come on. The crazy part of the situation is it turned itself off each time without using durametrics or any other tool. In fact for 2 of the 3 situations it turned itself off while I was driving. Searching the forums everyone with airbag light problems had to go to the dealer or use the Durmeterics tool to have the light reset. Did Porsche change something in MY04 or do I have a bigger problem? Still have have 10 days before my warranty runs out. Will the dealer be able to pull the codes even though the warning light is no longer present? Any words of advice. MY 04 boxster S Ken P.S. Time I donate some money to this great site.
  5. Problem solved. I pulled the sound system fused (which was good) and reinstalled it. System worked fine after this. For some reason the system went into mute mode. Ken
  6. I did my winter preparation today of washing my 2004 Boxster S, cleaning the interior, changing to my winter wheels and putting my hard top on. After this I went to take it for a test drive and there was music. The head unit operates fine (can tune to stations and adjust the volume), and the amp is warm (not hot) but there is no audio. I have the upgraded Bose stereo with door speakers and Bose sub unit behind the seats (no optional CD changer). Where do I start looking for a problem? Is there a specific fuse I should be looking for? Ken
  7. My problem is when I wear my polarized sunglasses the center computer LED display (the one in the tach) is very dark. I don't have this problem with the LED displays on the speedometer or fuel guage clusters. Experimenting around I realized that the polarization on the center computer LED display is 90 deg out of phase with my sunglasses resulting in the lack of visible light reaching my eyes. The side displays are in phase with my sunglasses so their light is at a readable intensity. First question, is the polarization part of the tach lense or is it part of the actual LED display? The second more important question is there a way to fix this aside from not wearing polarized sunglasses or turning my head sideways? For instance if the polarization is in the guage lense can it be rotated and if so how? BTW this is on a MY04 boxster S. Thanks. Ken
