  1. I finished a full cylinder replacement using LN Engineering Nickies 3.8 L kit last year that cost $6k in parts and machine services. I did the assembly work. It was a great education in 996 mechanics and special tools. Definitely not for the faint of heart! Looking back I should have done the heads at the same time so that I could call it a full rebuild. It took about 3 months total. Keith 2003 996
  2. I am getting CELs P300, P304, P305, P306 in my 2003 3.6L 996 and the motor will only accelerate slowly. After reading a number of old posts on this forum I suspect a problem with the cam solenoid on bank 2. On the bench it shows 10.6 ohms across the terminals and no shorts to the cover. When 12V is applied it clicks but the inner slide only shifts outward about 3mm. The inner spring is at least 10 mm long so I am wondering if it is exhibiting full movement. It isn't gummed up and nothing appears to be blocking the inner slider. Does anyone know how much movement to expect? thanks, Keith in Denver
