  1. yes, m-mode, manual shifting from 1st to 2nd at around 2500~2800, the rpm would jump to 3800~4k before it comes down to a 2k's level.
  2. I bought a used 2009 c2s pdk with 17K miles on it. The car drives beautifully, except in the m-mode, when I shift from the 1st to 2nd gear, the rpm would go up to 4K before the 2nd gear is engaged. I am used to(2003 tiptronic) change gear around 2500~3k rpm, but this c2s seems like having a mind of its own and takes the rpm to 4k every time. This only happens from 1st to 2nd, all other gears are fine. Is this normal? Should I have any concern over this? Thanks in advance!
  3. I think Loren is right. I had a rear bearing problem a few years ago, it started with loud muffler noise at speed over 25mph.
  4. Hi Bill! Read the manual page 211, got it opened mand installed the battery, thanks alot!!!!
  5. I felt the cable under the mid front bumper, I pulled it, the trunk did not open, but I think I have just disconnected or broke off some kind of electric wiring.....This car is going on the flatbed in the morning before gets more damages. Thanks all for the inputs.
  6. 2003 boxster 2.7. Yesterday I took out my old battery to replace with a new one, but when I came back home with my new battery, I have realized I have closed the front trunk( I wasn't thinking right!). Now I have no battery in my car and can't open my front trunk, pls help!!!
  7. MY 2003, cdr-23 radio powered by becker be6600 went dead. i went to a local installer and he told me i cant just replacing an aftermarket amp, i will also need to change the radio as well. is there a better, cheaper solutions to this??? i also have read something written about MOST BUS?? if i really have to change both units(radio & amp) will my existing speakers match(i dont think i have the bose speakers)??? :(
  8. Many thanks for all the replies. I will get a set of 4 Sumitomo since they are so cheap with good review from Tirerack.com($79 for the front & $99 for the rear)
  9. Hi, I have a set of 4 Goodyear F1 17's. After 20k, the front looks ok(maybe still have another 8~10k), but the rear tires look pretty much wornout. I am thinking to replace only the rear 2 tires at this time with a different brand(Sumitomo HTR3), and eventually replace the front ones when I wear them out in 1 year. Is there any problem with 2 different brands of tires??? This is my daily commute car, I dont track nor ever get wild on this car.
  10. major services should be done by porsche dealer, boxster: every 15k, cayenne: every 20k. i do oil changes between each major services, i never saw the service light. but there are many posts for resetting the service light.
  11. i have a 2006 v6, dealer quoted $275. instead, i bought the mahle oil filter from the internet for $10.00 and took it to the local mobil station for the oil change for $78.00( v6 only takes 7 cans of mobil 1). oil change is oil change, dont believe the dealer's bs on 25 or 50 points checkup!! i do the samething on my 2003 boxster($90.00- 9 cans of oil). save your money, you will needed for the major services..... :D
  12. hi gary, u r right! i just did a test on my cayenne. when engine is turned on, xenon low beam & yellow parking light both went on. engine turned off, xenon went off but yellow park light remained on. cayenne has 3 separate lights, but boxster has bulbs behind that round glass cover, cant really tell how many bulbs are behind it. going back to the shop tomorrow, change to a 5000k hid(6000 is just a bit too blue) will also replace a white parking bulb so it wont look so weird like a christmas tree(red car with blue & yellow light). many thanks to you all.
  13. also started the same thread in the babblers, these are 2 pics when the light switch are both turned to the far right(low beam), 1 is with engine running, u can see the blue hid with some yellowish light. the other pic is with engine off, the hid blue light went off, but the yellowish light still remain on(the light switch was untouched, in the far right-low beam). i was told the hid light should remain on with or without engine running when the light switch is in the low beam position.
  14. Just got my 6000k hid installed by a local xenon dealer this afternoon for $235(parts & labor). Took about 1 hour. The installer did not take out the whole headlight piece from the front trunk, he jacked up frontside, removed the panel in the wheel section and worked from the backside of the headlight without removing the whole piece. I guess that also works. I am very happy with the result, the light output on this aftermarket hid maybe even better then the original factory xenon I have in my 06 cayenne. (Sorry, I forgot to mention, the newly installed xenon is on the '03 boxster). PROBLEM: I realized there is some yellowish light in my 6000k hid when I see the car from the front with engine running, but when I turned off the engine, the hid light turned off as well and left with the weak yellowish light, is this normal??? I saw the installer took off the halogen low beam bulbs which I have them in them in the box. What is that yellowish light?? Cant be the parking light? Cant be the signal light? I am going back to the installer on monday, please help, I dont want to sound stupid.
