  1. I'll take it thanks ric I hate how everyone mods the boxster and then ends up selling it....why cant these guys give us a 300+ horsepower car....i'm gonna have to spend gobs of money to get this to fly....but still love the look of this thing... hopefully you'll see my car in excellence in the next 2 years ric
  2. has anyone attempted a swap with this tb? I am talking to rob about a few items and not sure if its worth the hassle of replacing it with the header system and the intake they make http://www.scargoracing.com/ thanks ric if not...thanks anyway... will probably dyno before and after the scargo stuff... ( :clapping: then onto 3.6?)
  3. hey chuck right ther with you started 2 yrs ago dicussing with tom at http://www.turboperformance.com/ they have a good system for the 2.7 but still have to develop for the 3.2 been waiting since 6000 decided to have my local porsche shop try and still am in the books for winter redo 11000 thought by just getting the 3.4 ...should be enough to give that pull off the light or accelerate after a sharp cone on autox but if i go scca then i am now in gt class and hanging with the 600 horse monsters for future road racing talked with mark carillo at techart http://www.cecwheels.com/tuners/products.s...uner_brand_id=7 they take the motor out and send it to germany 15000 fabian roock does it in his garage but heard some horror stories about how long the work is there http://www.roockusa.com/products/boxster_rsb340.htm# 20000 a company that works with ttp has done one 3.6 bore out with porsche products replacing, bought my gt2nose from len http://www.autosportengineering.com/index.html 20000 alot of money!...but with these gto's, srt4's, m3's, s4's, c6(the new corvette is more well balanced then the boxster, takes 96g's, and is sitting at 400hrs), not to mention the bubble gum chewing sti and evo crowd...and finally the new comercial for the "subaru legacy gt that is faster than a porsche boxster"....need to keep up with the jones ...if porsche would just give the boxster what it needs i talked with fvd http://www.fvd-web.com/fvd-usa/index-usa.html today and the guy i spoke with had tried several different set ups for the boxsters in his shop he just suggested highflow cat, headers, chip tune and x51 cams...he thought 3.6 is too much for the 3.2 engine block,,suggested just getting a 996 3.4 and working with it and bolting the above on..... i will decide by january on the next step but it will probably be a 3.6...just waiting for some guys to break in there engines good luck ric
  4. i would have considered psm but dont drive it in chicagos winter.....and for the same money.....so many other goodies to buy! truthfully...im very used to being conservative with driving in winter but in naperville......way too many nearsighted minivan drivers trying to get their kids to school by first bell that tailgate like dale ernhart during inclement weather thinking that those stock brake pads will out do my pagids!(sorry ..had to vent) i used to have recaro heated seats in my 911 and remember many a day opening up the hatch and turning on the seats ....still have them in my volvo if i ever feel the urge to freeze my ears off but would also say for the money.....many other goodies to buy
  5. hey I use midwest eurosport http://www.midwesteurosport.com/contact.html worked on my 911sc and did decent work i will be the first brian has worked on for the 986 swap....but have chatted with techart and roock about selling me a built motor and still trying to decide techart has a 3.2 that they stroked out to a 3.4 so its just a drop in....supposedly has 315 at the crank.....roock has a 3.6 that comes with alot of elecrtical work according to fabian roock... i essentially want a one of a kind car that will stomp on anything from a viper to a turbo but yet will still be graceful enough to continue on in autocrossing (guess thatll depend on my right foot) also looking to publish the work as it progresses ric
  6. wow...i got mine for 320.00 sounds kinda fishy with the different prices when i watched the young guy put it in....just a matter of where to get the wires to pull down.... and my porsche place was asking 600 bucks well ...as long as our kids are protected.... ric
  7. 245/40/17 and 225/40/17 very slight rub with full turning to front
  8. just bought a set of hoosiers and the difference in autocrossing is remarkable....had 18 inch gemballas for srteet that i used no plowing...and didnt even get a chance to push it but inproved time by 2 seconds question is what pressure should they be at....have it a 30 30 now and they dont seem to be rolling over the tire shoulders too much ric
  9. tool pants update got the code read....fault code 24......passenger ignition tripped?....think they spliced the side airbag wire while trying to tap the passenger airbag ....so far not coming back on..... so if this stays off.....robert brown from airbag on off says this is better than porsches seat pressure sensor in case of roll over or if passenger is lifted off seat....airbag still wont be deployed whereas if the porsche child seat is used....may go off when kids butt lifts off...(does that sound right).. either way it was cheaper and now i have a cool switch under the dash... thanks for the recommendation ric
  10. http://share-adobe.shutterfly.com/action/s...pen=1&sm=1&sl=0 still love my boxster but wouldnt mind a night with one of these!
  11. thanks steve i actually have a 2002 so with e gas does this increase potential for 3.6 ric
  12. i boughtmine from kokelyn just went fiberglass cause wanted to keep everthing red so would have paintec anyway and weight was negligible dont notice much performance change ..but have done more autoxing than wheel to wheel ric
  13. tool pants because of the delays in the finished product of the tpc supercharger for the last year....im moving over to just dropping a 3.4 in..... my mech says if we buy from porsche it wont come with harness and brain... better off buying used 3.4 complete and swapping (porsche will charge core charge too) also read one of the articles on someone with a sc kit and the editor had commented on alot of pinging at wot.... someone upstairs is telling me to just just jump to the engine swap anyway...any good reasearch on the swap.....want to go through the step by step and know hangups/problems in the swap..... or do i just go to 3.6? thanks ric
  14. yes i got the idea from your previous post.....the way they do it is to call a service center near the buyer and arrange an install i have the instructions.....i can fax them to you....i dont know how to scan and post....lemme know...the guy in charge(robert brown?) is easy to work with.....even split the cost of the porsche diagnostic with the install place i have yet to get the light turned off thanks for the website ric
  15. airbag guys said turning off the light will fix everything.....i have a few dobts but will see tool pants......another question...put the brey krause fireextiguisher mount under the driver seat put in taking off the bracket...the piston came off and can t get it back on....cant compress it enough to get the pin in that holds it to the front of the seat....consequently....i sit 1 inch higher so my helmet doesnt clear the roll bar by 2 inches....is there a compressor or some way to get that piston back on? thanks ric
  16. just had the airbag on off switch placed in......seems to activate and deactivate properly but the airbag light came on....tried the battery disconnect thing but no change.... its 110.$ to have the porsche dealership turn it off......the airbag guys say if it is reset with the wires spiced in.....should return to normal.....any way to turn off the light in this case without going to porsche..... i read a previous post from june but wonder if this may be different because of the spliced in switch.. thanks ric http://share-adobe.shutterfly.com/action/s...pen=1&sm=1&sl=0
  17. had it come on twice......came on as aging o2 sensor but hasnt gone back on for about a year.....computer seems to learn
  18. any actual gain on performance? i purchased th fvd cat and seat of ur pant dyno was improved they also have headers which i was consiering next http://www.fvdmotorsport.com/Exhaust2.htm ric
  19. does anyone know the wheel width for the 17 inch wheels that came with the 2002 s?...I am trying to get hoosiers to fir but cant seem to get a good fitment and i think if i could give more accurate dimensions it may help...i was looking at using them for autox only....since i already have 18s on the car..... thanks ric
  20. for those that didnt see this before http://www.chpltd.com/911_porsche_world/street_lighting.html with some extra pics here http://www.speedoptions.com/features/cars....6d0024&carID=71 i thought i was obsessed with bolt ons.........when i think i'm spending alot....i just read this and feel better since then i believe this car has upgraded to a 3.6..... enjoy ric
  21. is there a way of changing the throttle wheel to get faster response to the gas pedal.....or do we not have a wheel.....i remember something about drive by wire but not sure if the 2002 S has that..... since putting the window in the engine cover....i can hear the suction noise from the intake after nailing the gas pedal....and hate the delay.....in autox....i always have to remind myself to hit the gas while early apexing a cone just to get the acceleration going when into a straight......(which feels unnatural to me....i long for that v8 feel/response) anhy comments appreciated......the tpc supercharger starts boost at 2700rpm so when i get that in it'll help a little but.....thats not till winter btw...heres a short video i found on a "Boxster R" http://www.headcheese.com/les/index.html enjoy ric
  22. ohhhh....right.... how much was the total for the boxster s mods....? 302 at the crank is about 270 horse(15%loss) right? tom the guys who is currently postponing my supercharger from tpc...claims 30 horses at the wheel gain the eaton supercharger with plumming cost 5000 plus about 10hrs labor (i was planning on doing a before and after chassis dyno) if there is a cheaper way to get close to 300 ....im interested please elucidate tom thanks ric
  23. seems like a huge gain....great if its true but chassis dynos will always have some bit of error to add more horses you may want to try a high flow cat with elimination of the oem precat (bound to set a few cel's but the ecu will learn) http://www.fvdmotorsport.com/Exhaust2.htm go to the bottom of the page for the boxster addons tom, the energy in your post shows how much fun your having...i would love to hit 1/4 mile but i hate the lines around the chicago areas during test and tune....and i always get wheel hop with dropping the clutch keep us posted with your achievements please! ric
  24. good info adsach! where did you get the info I'm thinking ....if i can afford it....just going with ready for track coil overs.....to get set for the scca groups....I'm already walking on eggshells with my nose so why not....got to be different!
  25. just got a call from eurosport rowm030 is the spring/strut combo.....bilstein i believe about 2100 installed pss9 is adjustable coilover about 3200 installed with corner weighted and cross balanced like i said....better learn to drive first
