  1. Okay, just picked up my 2016 GT4 last week... some funny things I have noticed since then. Wonder if these would be caused by not having the car programmed correctly for the options it has?

    • There is no Wiper option in the Vehicle / Settings / Light & Visibility section as described in the manual... I have the rain sensing wiper option and the sensor seems to be physically present but no option in my menu to set it to automatic versus manual operation.

    • Auto dimming mirrors do not seem to dim for exterior... the interior mirror has the buttons and sensor but the outside mirrors do not dim at night along with the interior rear view mirror.  According to the options code all mirrors should dim together.

    • The Hill Hold does not work... I see the HOLD light up during startup self check of the car but when on a hill the car rolls back and there is no light in the dash. On my 2014 991 (that was also manual trans) the hill hold worked fine and when active the green HOLD light would show.

Has anyone seen stuff like this before? I know with VW/Audi and a Vag-Com you can set features like these electronically so I am wondering if somehow Porsche forgot to set these on my car. I plan to take it to the dealer to fix but wanted to see if this has happened before.

  2. Hi everyone, made the jump from a 996 to a 991 and was curious if there was any electronic coding options that could be done via PIWIS? Examples would be activating the passenger side mirror for reverse and controlling the windows via remote. I have heard there are things that can be done but just curious what options were available. :)

  3. Hi everyone, I installed my ROW 030 suspension and now need to correct my alignment. The rear is pretty easy with some dog bone adjustable arms but what about the front? I know there are several options out there one of which was the Cross (JIC) camber plates which I cannot find. Since this is not for a race set up I would prefer a infinitely adjustable type of camber plate were I can dial in a modest camber for street purposes. I found one at Ground Control but cannot seem to find any people using this (I tried searching). Has anyone heard of this unit?

  4. Wow, sorry to hear this. I am looking to replace my top soon so please let the rest of us know which shop this is so we do not go there!

I have the same issue with that wire by the way on my 2001 996 Cab. Just seems like a cosmetic issue on mine since the top works fine. Also do not know if this top is original or not. Please let us know how it goes on any repair you end up doing, some of us might need to do the same thing on ours. ;)

  5. Weird, I was looking for this post and could not find it so I reposted... Sorry about that everyone.

I did check the engine number and it looks like it is not a replacement version. I recently did the IMS bearing retrofit when I had the clutch put in so it makes sense. Is there any way to find out the production date for the part number listed below?

Guess I will have to order the Porsche certificate of authenticity so I can see if it is the original motor. :)

  6. Hi everyone, I picked up a 2001 Carrera Cab earlier this year and during the inspection process noticed that the motor looked very new for an 11 year old car with 85k miles. Even the bolts and wiring harness looked like new on the top back part of the motor. My thought is that this car had a motor replacement done but the dealer had no service records to go with it. Is there a way to verify if the motor is a newer version? Maybe by looking up the part number?

  7. Okay, I ended up buying a 2001 Carrera Cab earlier this year with about 85k miles on it. When I checked the motor is seemed very clean, all the way down to the nuts and bolts looking new and the wiring harness looking new. My thought it that this car has had a motor replacement done but the dealer did not have any service records for it. Is there a way to check to see if the motor was replaced? Maybe a part number revision?

  8. Okay, this has bugged me... when shutting the door the window makes a noticeable rattle which makes the Porsche seem like a worn out Yugo. mad.gif

I had this issue on both driver and passenger doors on my 1999 996 and now with my 2001. I checked the regulators and the window seems to be firmly in place. The issue seems to be that the seals at the top of the door where the window goes in have too large a gap so when the door is closed the window bangs around. It does not seem to do much just driving, it is most noticeable when closing the door.

Has anyone found a fix to this? The weather stripping for the door is not cheap at $250+ per piece so I am hoping there is another adjustment or part that can fix this. eek.gif
