  1. HEY DEPUTYDOG95. I have some spare cats from my 05 997s - if you need any. they are in very good shape and do not rattle.
  2. I have an 08TT now and I can barely get my hand between wings for washing - but I can do it.
  3. Just make sure it is the water pump. I had a clanking noise - consistent, but getting louder as the I drive the car over about a 2 week period. I took it into the dealer and they diagnosed it as a converter problem. I happened to have another pair of stock ones at home and swaped them. Sure enough it was a convertor. I cut the bad one apart and the "honeycone" inside was free and moving around..
  4. My car is a MY05 997C2S TIP and it handled the TPC SC kit well. I already had the center radiator, so I did not need that. Car was a daily driver and is a rocket - over 500hp and 400+ TQ at crank. TIP was ok, but first 2 gears are useless - car is soooo fast. However, I'm looking to trade up to a 997TT and had to de-mod my car. TPC SC kit is for sale - $7,000. Professional installation is recommended - around $3k + any parts needed.
  5. The only way to that much HP and with more torque is supercharging. Either VF or TPC.
  6. RON'S TIRE & WHEEL 12830 SHERMAN WAY NORTH HOLLYWOOD, CA 91605-5033 (818) 764-1560
  7. I have the n1 bridgestones on the rear now - seem fine. Car is DD, but I still feel the PS/2s were better.
  8. Get the MY06 PCM manual - available from your dealer or on eBay. It will show you how to use the new functionality. There is an easy way to turn off the icons - go into MAP mode, hit the "SET" button and make sure POI is unchecked by pressing the right side round rotary knob.
  9. An oil change - fresh oil, will do that. My oil pressure reads higher after oil chnages also, then will go down some as the oil breaks down.
  10. Yikes, was it in one of the canyon tunnels? I'm glad you are OK, but am always sad to see a P-car damaged. They are works of art.
  11. Just picked up a new 08 C4S Cab. No Plate. Car is stored on a lift. Love to look at the engine. Skid plates are usually and aftermarket addition.
  12. Don't do it. If you want to alter performance, go with GIAC or some other well know ECU programming company..
  13. Gads! Look at all that trash!! And then the garbage on the floor, too!! That's no way to treat a Porsche! LOL trash.. I agree - keep it clean and shiny. No fast food garbage left on the floors, where is the respect..
  14. I tried the dealer but they won't cover them because of the SC, which I knew was a risk. I bought AWE sport cats as replacement and will install them tonight. WOW! The angry, snarling beast - when started up in the morning seems to say "why'd you wake me" - is now very pissed off! With AWE sport cats - much louder when on the gas, ok a idle and low rpms. I'm not sure if their is any additional power, but glad I replaced my OEM rattling cats. Anyway, what a great sound these AWE cats have with the TUBI mufflers!!! Took about 2 hours to install after cool down.

  16. PTEC, you got me thinking a little bit more about this. My AMP software is 00017600 (hardware: 997.645.334.33), but the .inf file on the Update CD 2 has a section for updating the Bose amp to 017500. Should I modify the CD to delete the Bose reference in the INF file so that I can keep my current, updated Bose software? I thought this would be a fun DIY project, but I should have just taken the darn thing into the dealer from the get go. I bought the NAV upgrade kit from my dealer ($299 - 10% PCA discount), it had 2 PCM CDs (dealer kept those, they gave me the box and CD wallet) and an 08.2007 NAV DVD. They performed the PCM upgrade free (per the May 08 TSB) which brought my PCM to 3.0 or 2.1 version C - whichever seems more correct. It took about 45 minutes and all looks good. Apparently I now need a MY06 PCM manunal to use some of the new features. I was hoping to get a 12.2007 NAV DVD, becuase I heard they were availablel - but the dealer so they are not.... BTW my "incompatible navigation software" message finally dissappeared with this PCM upgrade. It did not go away when they did the PCM 2.1 version upgrade earlier this year.
  17. That is what I thought. Anyway, do aftermarket sport cats last longer?
  18. Um update - cats are gone per dealer. Does anyone have a set of stock catalytic converters or sport cats for a 2005 997s they want to sell ASAP???????
  19. I'm getting horrible banging noises from under the engine during (mostly) idle. At first I though it was the water pump, since the noise was from that area. Took car to dealer and they freaked at some of my mods, but looked at the car without being able to tell me where the noise was coming from. They seemed to suggest it is the TUBI exhaust. I said, I doubt that. Took car home, jacked it up and (after cooling) I banged on the manifolds, mufflers, brackets, and cats. Sure enough, the driver side cat was very noisy (like something broke inside and was moving around). So I call the dealer back and ask them to check again (service will be tomorrow) because I'm hearing the cats rattling and they are getting worse and worse - been rattling over 3 weeks now. Has anyone had cats go noisy like mine? What was the root cause? Is it possible to damage the TUBI mufflers from pieces of the cats breaking off and going into them? Are there any other symptoms (besides rattling) that I should have felt or seen - misfires, hesitations, etc. - before the cats got noisy?
  20. 2005 997C2S tip TPC supercharged 25k miles 2nd owner no tip problems no maintenance done yet
  21. I know that GIAC has software upgrades to the ECU (only 996TT/997TT, I believe) that included a valet and "kill" modes and had a remote to do that. http://www.giacusa.com/programs.php?mpid=163 None for the non TT though...
  22. thanks Paul, I am a member and have seen that huge document before. It really does describe fully the internal workings of the tip, nor does it have any cutaway diagrams. And, it is definitely silent about the direct drive concept for gears 3-5. I'll keep looking.
  23. For oil changes? I'm afraid I disagree - perhaps the largest ripoff in the industry. I agree with Loren and others. Buy what you need, search the forum for oil changes instructions, and DIY.
