  1. Hi Guys, apologies for resurrecting this tread. My 2000, C4, Cab roof has lost the run of its self over since last year! I took my hard top off over the weekend and tried to use the soft top, but just as it closes, and the latch engages the latch opens and repeats the cycle. I can stop it by pressing the micro switch inside the receiver with a pen. So it seams many have had this problem so I purchased the latch cover part 996 561 787 0101C and using the TSB attempted it put it on the latch, it wouldn't fit? the replacement cover is the exact size as my latch, so the cover split putting it on! I notice here http://www.design911.co.uk/fu/prod21302/Cabrio-Roof-Catch-Hook-Cap-Porsche-996/ there is reference to superseding part numbers, would you guys know if there are 2 parts available. I cant see how the part I got could have fit over the steel hook???
  2. Hi I havent read much on this before so excuse me if I appear dumb! My 2000 996 has the Becker CDR22 Head unit and multi disk player in the boot. I have an iPhone too, can you when time permits detail or explian what I need to get the iphone working in the car and charging.....I was about to order a Nokia blue tooth kit for the phone and assume I will still need it, but your post sounds interesting, if I read it right. Denis
  3. Such confusion, shouldn't this be on the 996 board! However in responce to the original question, most important issue to be looking into is to see if the car has its mileage clocked....., whats with the broker?, can you talk to the previous owner and or vendor direct, without the broker being the translator? I'm sure it goes without saying but the mileage is easy to change on all digital odometers in all cars, however you can get a read out from the on board computer of the running hours, this is discussed on the 996 board, and most owners find an average figure of 33 miles for each hour give or take, so if the computer says the engine ran for 1000 hours (as is the case on my car) the mileage should be 33 thousand - ish, (mine is 31K), but this is only an average, its NOT gospel! A main dealer will need to acces this information, but if its been sold from a main dealer then I'm sure your safe. Why not buy from a main dealer in Canada you if your so concerned?
  4. Hi guys I had these pics on file fof an early 997 Cab spotted before the original release. Anyone know anything about the wheels? ie who or where they are available from? Looks like modern cup alloys?
  5. Mind me asking do you have an alarm? did it not activate?
  6. Hi guys I am getting the PSE installed Wednesday with the switch by my OPC. They will amend the installation so it won't cut out between 30 and 40mph but advised on some models it not always works, they suggested by not connecting a cable to the speedo that it should be either on all the time or off all the time depending on the switch position. Has anyone any advise or experience on this, I am aware the diode cut modification "might" have implications with the cabriolet roof speed sensor, I have a smart top and don't want to lose its features so would like to avoid the diode cut in case I lose functionality. Anyone any knowledge on any of these issues? Appreciate the help Its going on a 2000 C4 3.4 Cabriolet with Smart Top.
  7. sorry if this is off topic but can you post pics of the completed install? Hope you find your answer,
  8. I'm sorry to hear your troubles, mind me asking have you had coolant replaced previously, and if so was it indy or opc? Did you buy any from Porsche? Jesus man 3 blown porsches? who can blame you for being pi**ed....
  9. Cheers Mike, Cracking condition Mike, The sensors are not so bad! the eyesockets they are in are a tad large but I know back then it was the only way to get them sealed in the curve of the bumper. You could have a call out dent repair shop colour in the insert to black too. I read from Richard Hamilton that the kit is by Bosch, do a search online for Bosch Park Pilot, http://aa.bosch.de/advastaboschaa/Product....p;publication=1 you can buy it in Germany and Austrailia, its cheap, and the new sensors are flush mounted, you could always look into upgrading to new sensors only.... http://aa.bosch.de/advastaboschaa/View.jsp...p;publication=1 I'm looking at this kit from Austraila here is the brochure http://www.bosch.com.au/content/language1/...s/parkpilot.pdf I am sure Loren might want to put this in the FAQ section but as it is now I cannot 100% say it is the original kit. Richard your thoughts?
  10. Sorry for the delay but yeah your right the zapp fits in without the need to remove the cd changer, even on a 996 C4.
  11. Sam & Mike, Those Turbo 3 wheels are very similar to the wheels I mentioned, but the C4S or 996 Twin Turbo wheels are slightly different, I had seen some of the C4S (TT) advertised and thought about buying them. Have a look at the C4S in some pics and the 996TT and you will see the rim of the wheel is different even though the spoke is the same, albeit when the spoke meets the rim its different too, much more chunky and deep. However after seeing your pics, especially yours Mick, I'm sold, I started out looking for your very wheels but saw the others advertised, now I am back where I started they look fantastic Mick, are they new? refurbed? mind me asking are they the originals, what they cost, from who etc etc.... Your car looks stunning! Thats it its those wheels for me! did you have the park assist retro fitted?
  12. rapid fire of clicks at start up is for sure a sign of a flat battery, i had the same last week and a nights trickle charge sorted it, if no lights where left on and it drained flat you should keep an eye on your alternator as it might not be charging the battery,
  13. Mike is one of your new blades curved? on my right hand drive car the passenger blade has a slight curve in it and the drivers is straight...you can see this illustrated in the owners manual...my ops installed blades have the curve, however the same size bosch blades in halfords are both straight...only difference if both straight will be the bottom left (from inside car) side of the screen will not get a full wipe.
  14. Yes Paul, I think it would be like a dune buggy, there are 2 sets of C4S wheels in mint condition on PCGB's forum at the moment, one is in Scotland by the way Paul. I am thinking these wheels will only work on wide bodies. I'd like to see a pic of them on one too , they look very meaty.
  15. This happened me before! I bought wipers from the US for my 968, they arrived and I installed, I then drove at 80mph in the rain and the wipers lifted off the screen! Simple case of wipers for a left hand drive on a right hand drive..... On my 00 996 (prefacelift) I dont have spoilers? and these where OPC installed, don't be losing sleep if it doesn't fit!
  16. For the record it looks like the C4S wheels wll move out 6mm on the front, and move in 7mm on the rear, and out 33mm on the rear, this looks to be too much.
  17. Thanks Nick will check them out but I dont have a sample to send! and I am not fully faded, I just need the name for option BE in 2000..... It seems impoosible to get!
