  1. This is a cooling water channel, the cover is secured with four bolts. The metal seal between housing and cover is leaking and needs to be replaced, this occurs regularly. The work is easy to do, drain cooling water, clean the edges of the housing and cover, replace the metal seal, refill cooling water. Please note, to avoid filling and venting problems cooling water must be refilled with a vacuum device, this is very important to avoid an overheated and therefore defected engine.
  2. I looked in to my notes regarding 996/986, ABS/TC is a combi system. Perform a throttle valve cleaning inclusief the electric connector and check the wiring, it may sound weird but the throttle body is part of the TC system and too much resistance mechanical/electrical could cause such a problem. Let us know your findings.
  3. 035 amp is way too much, 0035 amp looks better with the system in sleep mode. So there is a consumer/control box somewhere that does not go into sleep mode or wakes up now and then. This will probably the cause of the ABS/TC problem.
  4. It looks like cooling water loss, there must been a big leak in the circuit. Low oil level is separate from this but must be brought up to level asap.
  5. You need a PIWIS diagnostic device to see which/when modules are being woken up, possibly also to detect CAN-BUS errors.
  6. If the car has a Tiptronic gearbox, an internal eak from the cooler can cause this phenomenon. Check the ATF oil for intermix with cooling water, the gearbox can be destroyed in a short time.
  7. These flaps are on the hinge mechanism, left and right,of the clamshell to protect the convertible top from friction damage when driving top down.
  8. Take the car and all associated keys to a Porsche dealer, he can synchronize them with the help of a PIWIS diagnostic device.
  9. Maybe a small drop of oil on the hinges and pivots will help.
  10. You should try driving with a conventional oil pressure gauge connected and see what the readings are. From this you can determine whether there is still a fault in the pump or elsewhere.
  11. Be aware that the remonte controled central locking system only works during approx. 5 days, car parked and nog used. After that time, the door must be opende manualy with the key to het the remonte control working again.
  12. Try to bring it back and use Mann for all filters, great quality and always fitting.
  13. The Tiptronic gear lever is responsible for releasing the ignition key, it works electrically and contains a solenoid. Check if there is a power interruption, if not i fair a defective unit.
  14. It seems that the starter motor remains activated, there could be something wrong with the electronic ignition switch system. It is not normal for the startermotor to engage automatically after stalling. There is a problem between the electronic ignition lock and the release of the electronic ignition system(DME). An investigation is in order here. Is there sometimes an additional alarm/anti carjack installed?
  15. Have the shock absorvers, springs and complete suspension tested and aligned according to specification of the car type, make sure that the correct tires are in good conditions with the correct pressure. Please leave the bags of gravel where they belong, these jokes worked a little on aVW beetle in 1950.
  16. If you have a vacuumpomp available, this is the best solution.
  17. Remove the interior from the valve, instal one or two tensioning straps, which used in the transport sector, around the rim/spare tire and tighten well, let it rest overnight. The spare wheel will now fit, replace the interior back in the valve. Otherwise it will be an uneven fight, success.
  18. Looks like the connector of the original standard alarm system horn on this spot, but where the horn has gone is the question.
  19. Normal for LHD cars. Only one side is lit left or right depending the car is LHD or RHD.
  20. The post cat sensors do both 1) monitoring the cat efficienty and 2) taking care of the mixture fine tuning by correcting the values after the cat, too rich or too lean via the control box, they are also oxygen sensors. the best result is obtained with only a small change from time to time compared to the pre cat sensors especially at full acceleration. This is also a quick check that the sensor is working and therefore not blocked.
  21. Depending on the year and type of gearbox, it is possible that the shifting mechanism that is attached to the gearbox comes loose and/or folds and hits the bearbox housing. The easiest way to do this is with a second person.
  22. Have you already tried cleaning the throttle valve ? At the same time clean the airflow meter with a spray developed for this purpose, CRC brand for example. Al this is inexpensive and takes little time, i would start with that.
  23. Open and close the car always with the remote, press the button briefly (short). If no result have the car scanned, especially the confort settings.
