  2. So here are a couple of snaps. I have my headliner out if anyone needs a specific shot of anything just ask.

At the back of the sunroof frame is a drain. It has a bit of a reservoir then the tube to the back of the car. I sat inside the car while a buddy with a hose sprayed the roof of the car. No water came in. So i moved the car onto an incline and water started to drip. (Don't park on an incline, is the only answer i can come up with)

If the reservoir gets too much water then it will leak over the frame and onto your headliner. I am going to go full black alcantara for the interior of the PIG. So more pics will follow. Interestingly one of my drain tubes is blue. The others grey. Carfax was clean, so no real idea as to why this was changed. Although when it rains and rains i have water when i open up my rear drivers side door.

Attached is a picture of the plastic piece where the drains hook up to. I wanted to make sure this was 100% clean so i took it out. You can see the factory sealant that was displaced when i removed it.

  3. Will post some pics in a few minutes.

I took out my headliner because it was sagging. While is was out i checked all 4 sunroof drains and found them clean. But i have water marks on my headliner. So now that i have a clear shot of the interior roof and the sunroof mechanism, i was able to see the leaks.

I poured a bottle of water on the sunroof and it started dripping out over the rear seats. I take it the actual sunroof seal is not doing its job. Turns out the seal is letting water drip through and the channel is lower than the drain. So it just drips. Hopefully pictures can describe better than me.

  4. Having an intermittent issue with air coming out of the left and right side vents in my 2004 CS.

Only front A/C unit installed. I do not have a durametric connection cable.

I have looked and looked but haven't really found any DIY regarding the replacement of the Servo Motors.

Assuming that it could be two things. Either the A/C controller or the Servo Motor Flap Actuator.

Since it works occasionally i am going to put my money on the Flap Actuator. Has anyone replaced one of these? I will gladly do a DIY write up if i can end up doing it myself.

It looks like i need to do the following…..

    Removal of trim under dash.

    Removal of the immobilizer.

Removal of the electrical system control unit.

Is it possible to change a flap actuator without having to remove the last two items?

Looks like there is 5 actuators. Which one controls the side vents?

    Thx

  5. I would like to think you can still do a traditional amp draw check on your battery. Get in the car and disconnect the negative on the battery and hook up your volt meter. Set to amps. Don't forget to get your radio code. Because a battery only lasted 17 days I bet you are only looking at a very small draw. Maybe .5 amps? Once you confirm you have a draw the next step is to find out what circuit. You could start pulling fuses to isolate it. Then when you find the one you will need the wiring diagram to see all that is running through that fuse. Or better yet use the DMM as described above.

Modern fuses are great. There is a cutout on the top of them making it easy to touch leads from a volt meter without having to remove them.

  6. Squeaking steering. Need to replace steering rack?

Had some time today so i jacked up the front of the cayenne and took off the plastic bottom trays.

Found a tin shield surrounding the universal joint of the rack that is supposed to have 2 bolts and 1 screw holding it in place. One of the bolts was missing. I replaced that and bent the shield back and no more noise. Bliss. 2 shops told me that my steering rack was bad. 2 shops that aren't going to get my business anymore...

2 weeks ago i did the drive shaft. Not a bad job. But two people would be handy cause of the heavy exhaust.

Rear Hatch doesn't stay up. Previous owner had struts replaced under warranty. 4 years ago.

Thank you sunset porsche. My rear hatch now stays up. My wife got tired of the "can't keep it up" jokes.

Car has wet odor when it rains. I suspect a drain hold is plugged. Somewhere.

Replaced the passenger air filter and while i was in there spend some time cleaning out some drains. No more smell. The filter was a brick.

Rear wiper doesn't get wiper fluid. Hear the pump but no juice.

Not sure why i saw what i did....The nozzle was caked full of what looked like calcium. Anyway i cleaned that out and works as good as new.

    Rear window sometimes opens.

Replaced switch with newest model. Thank you sunset again. Put a bit of crazy glue on the cap so the car wash doesn't eat it up next time.

Lots of broken plastic bits. Sunglass holder just fell down one night. Pieces everywhere.

Put it all back together, crap plastic. My overhead light still doesn't work but i will order the parts soon and do that. Front brakes are looking a bit thin, Overall i am liking the car more and more as i get the things that shouldn't have broken fixed.

  7. Had the 04S for about 6 months. I like the power and brakes but is this car a lemon or what?

I've fixed the fuel leak, replaced rear brakes, new battery,

Now all there is left to do is fix.....

    Odometer reset doesn't reset.

Instrument cluster sometimes works sometimes doesn't.

    Stereo works, then doesn't work.

    Clunking noise when stopping.

Only 70,000 mls on this beauty.

  8. My piece of crap 04S had a fuel smell as well. Then it became a large fuel leak. Enough that the fire dept was called.

The top of the fuel filter had a crack. When i filled up the car it overflowed. Ended up being a $500 fix. I tried to get the

dealer to fix it under the 10 year emission warranty but that didn't happen. The tank is only 2 years. Or something like

that. Anyway it isn't a big deal to fix yourself. My car was already there and in pieces. Plus i was getting dizzy driving it.
