You can use the tool at this site under "Quick Menu" to decode the VIN.

I'm getting noise between 1st and 2nd, 2nd and 3rd gears when shifting. I'm assuming this is the snycro's ? But I'm also getting a whinning noise when downshifting to slow the car. The noise grows louder as the car slows down (using 3rd or 2nd gears) until the clutch is depressed, and it disappears. Never heard anything like it. Any one with info?
