  1. What does this mean..."CEL"??? Sorry to be such a novice.... The car is done with the original warranty (it's an '02), but I did purchase an aftermarket warranty with a fairly low deductible...so I'll be checking into this, as well...
  2. Thanks for this info, Loren. I'll be taking this to a local pro for a replacement...to your knowledge, is this going to be a large labor issue, or relatively simple? Thanks again,
  3. Dang it, I keep forgetting to mention the Tip...yes (!), it's a Tip. This re-worked photo shows the #1 (in yellow), which is a more solid plastic tube (thinner diameter) running towards the front of the car: This second photo shows the split hose (#2), which is connected at a right-angle to #1... #2 also ends up curving and heading towards the front of the car. I can't see were either hose/tube ends up, because they both are (again) headed towards the front of the car, and are up at the top of the engine compartment...I can't see well in there. If one of them does end up at the throttle body (#3), it would be quite the circuitous route. Woops, this #3 hose goes into the plenum, not the throttle body. Sorry. I'll go look at the throttle body from the other side right now! I'm back...nothing going into the throttle body itself. I guess I could still use some help...
  4. Okay, I just noticed this cracked hose, just above (and interior to) the blue coolant cap. This is on a MY02 C4S, 3.6L engine. From the attachment (where it's cracked) it runs towards the back of the engine compartment, and then does a quick 180 running towards the front of the car. As a total novice with all of this, I will assume that I cannot replace this hose myself, but I would appreciate anyone's help in identifying the hose so I can mention this to one of my local repair guys...and get it taken care of as quickly as possible. I apologize for the dust, I live on a dirt road! Thanks,
  5. I have just spent 1/2 hour getting no results using the search function here, so I thought I would pose this question directly! Sorry if this is a repeat. I have a memory of seeing a thread that addresses an alarm wire (I think) going into a Becker CDR-220, and the car not properly locking and/or the horn honking when the Becker is removed and an aftermarket NAV is installed. I am about to install the new Panasonic "Strada," CN-NVD905U, which just knocked my socks off with it's iPod interface capabilities...along with all the other functions! Can anyone help me identify the proper wire involved in this small issue, and also tell me what to do with it?!? (no anatomical locations, please!) Thanks, and all the very best.
  6. Sadly, I don't know what a relay or relay position is. Searching on "relay position 3" gives me an error message! Sorry for being such a newbie. Hey, I *did* wire across the engine compartment to create a functional rear fog light on the passenger side of my C4S last week...just give me direction, a little encouragement, and some education, and I'll be doing regular work on this amazing little beast.
  7. All my bulbs are fine, but the turn signal stalk is not re-setting after a turn...and continues to blink. I looked for a blown fuse, but nothing seemed pertinent/connected to this. Comments/advice? Thanks...
  8. Could you please provide the URL that you discovered, since doing the google search you recommend doesn't get me there? Thanks!
  9. I'm curious if these mats will fit a C4S...any differences in the layout of this area for a C4? If they fit, ViolaGT3 no longer has mats for sale!
  10. Nick, Thanks for this...but, ahem, are you sure? By "center console" I mean the two-space console below where both the a/c and CDR220 radio are located. Right now I have two open storage bins in this area, having already removed the useless (useless to me, that is!) CD-storage bin. The existing trim piece housing the a/c control unit is 2.75", top to bottom, and it appears that I only have 2.25" of height for either shelf in the center console. I want to preserve one of the open-bin/shelf spaces, but I prefer to have the lowest spot open, rather than having that spot occupied by the a/c controls. I have indeed seen the part number you included, thank you, but this puts the a/c control unit at the bottom, darn it...not where I want it!
  11. I am new to the Renn forums...just purchased an '02 (996) C4S with 26K miles...yes, my first Porsche...fun! I have seen a good number number of posts regarding moving the the a/c controls to the lowest shelf in the center console, as part of an aftermarket Nav installation...but I have *not* seen a part number for a trim panel piece if I want the a/c in the *upper* shelf area (just one spot up from the lowest center console area). I have done several searches trying to discover any photo or mention of this on the rennlist and renntech forums, all to no avail. Is anyone aware of this as a possibility, finding an OEM trim piece for putting the a/c controls in the upper shelf area? Part number? Thanks!
