  1. Weird thing is that unlike other msgs the current one about the ignition key failure DOESN'T show up in the onboard computer display at the same moment that the exclamation mark isn't lit up. Is the normal alarm system diagnostics a procedure to run exclusively through a PIWIS or might I run it myself as well? Does a Durametric also help?
  2. To my bad luck not even the spare key reacted the same way as the original one
  3. Loren, it's the original key NOT a copy. I'll take the car in the soonest possible and let you know immediately after the verdict is in place
  4. You're right when saying this is a very common problem with the 996s and the older Boxsters. After a lot of googling and general searching I found out that this is also a known issue for 997 series. At least one certain owner at 6speenonline posted exactly the same failure, due to exactly the same cause which is battery replacement. Besides, there is another one at rennlist as well. Actually I didn't try the spar key as I originally rejected the idea . It really deserves a try, I'll let you know, in any case. Thanks once again for your input :jump:
  5. ONTF, the warning msg I get is "Ignition Key not Removed" Hope this might help the most knowledgeable of you guys
  6. Thanks Paulspeed... With all due respect I can't take this sort of answer in a technical forum such as Renntech!
  7. Today I replaced for a first time after I got the car the fully exhausted battery of my 997.1 GT3 MY07. The engine cranks perfectly fabulous, however when I came back from the typical checking ride and switched off the engine I noticed that the key was stucked in the ignition switch. RTFM depicted the quick procedure to tackle this issue, however the key still remains stuck each time I swith on and then off the engine. I googled the issue both to Renntech and elsewher, unfortunately I only found some DIY hints and tips about the 996/Boxster series, nothing about my 997 model. Q1: Does this failure directly connect to the battery replacement? Q2: Is this supposed to be a known problem for 997-series? Q3: Could anyone describe the cause of the failure? Q4: Any remedies? THX for taking the time to read this post...any advice is highly -d
  8. No worries at all about it...it's only WWF that would raise considerable concerns about that issue not you -:/ The boxer engine do normally behave that way...if you might ever see any GT3 starting up (mine included) then you would never complain about the white/blue puffs of your delicate engine... George quote name='englishempire' date='Jan 11, 2010 - 07:32 PM' post='164917'] It's just a puff that is just enough to cause concern but certainly not clouds! I will look into the castrol option but i will live with it for the moment rather than change the fresh mobil1 just yet!
  9. Hi Bolobar, if you're competent in DIY and wish to give it a try click this link as it contains a wealth of info on how to proceed with the installation at home. Enjoy!
  10. David, have a look here and here. They're both excellent sources for installing the Dension interface. :welcome:
  11. I'm afraid it's hard to find even the owner's manual of 997.1, let alone the shop manual.
  12. Same reason as for selling cars w/out limited slip diffs...price sensitivity maybe?
  13. I thought it would be a good idea to let you know that I have for sale the complete Europipe Exhaust System of my recently sold 997 C2S. As my conservative dealer wasn't prepeared to give me the extra 3,5k Euros I was asking for one of the best after market exhaust systems, I decided to have it demounted and then try to sell it apart either here or through the eBay. The original complete system I have available for sale is suitable for the 3.8lt engine of the 997.1 C2S model and is made of 2xOEM X51 headers, 2xsport mufflers, 2xsport catalytic convertors with 100 cells per square inch, 4 sets exhaust clamps, 2xtube clamps to hold the catalytic convertors, 2xset modified chromed OEM dual tailpipes, bolts and gaskets. For even more info please have a look at www.europipe.be manufacturer's site. I have used it for approximately 12k kms and all pieces are in excellent working condition, especially the sport cats that were recently inspected by Europipe. What's more the system is still under warranty for almost a whole year. Not only does the system deliver +16 bhp increasing maximum power to 371 bhp or does it distinctively deepen the exhaust sound across the rpm range, it also takes off the engine ability as to endlessly diving into the red line. However, the two most functional features I noticed on the Europipe system was at normal driving between 2,5k and 4k rpm whereas the stock exhaust fails to cope with the engine's 'black hole'. The other one is the unexpected transformation of the throttle response. More on the system upgrade with many key-notes from my personal experience on the engine transformation along with a lot of photos from the installation day at Europipe's workshop at Antwerp, Belgium can be found here http://www.renntech.org/forums/index.php?s...amp;#entry71768 and here http://www.rennteam.com/showflat.php?Cat=0...&PHPSESSID= Besides, many other members have reported here their experiences with the EuroP system. In any case I'll be delighted to answer any related questions to all of you, especially to those who are interested in getting it. Please don't hesitate to PM directly
  14. Good to hear about the Tubi system. Would you please post a couple of pictures and/or soundfiles. Rgds!
  15. This is a never ending question at this point for me. Everything I have read leads in different directions. I was heading AWE's way. Now I am not sure. Talked to the folks at APR this weekend at Barbers during a DE. Bought their software for my A3 and really like it. They claim their headers, cats, muffler, BMC a/f and software are good for 43HP. Billy Boat mfgs their headers and mufflers. The cats come from Germany - 200 CEL. They claim they are quieter than an AWE but louder then Miltek. Remus is another option to consider as are the guys who make the RSS plenums they are going to be impoting a system from Germany last I heard. I have the plenum and am vbery happy with the improvement. I am seriousily considering X-51 headers, someones cats and the stock muffler to see how it works. I think the main bang for the buck comes from the cats and the headers in that order and I don't really want a loud system. Good luck. I had the Europipe system installed on my MY07 911C2S earlier this summer, directly at the manufacturer's workshop in Antwerp, combining it with a holiday tour across central Europe (Athens-Ancona-Strassbourg-Antwerp-Saint Moritz-Lugano-Ancona-Athens). I had literally read tons of threads prior to deciding about what system best fits my P-car, I had also thorougly examined most of the technical features of the majority of the systems in the market, however none of these approaches could sufficiently discuss the transformed driving experience I got after the replacement of the stock system with the Europipe. Ahhh, not to forget, I had also given a good try to the soundful PSE on one of the importer's car, at no additional power gain however that made me reject the option. I agree Europipe rather seems to be an expensive system in the first place, BUT there is no doubt it worths each and every penny of the investment, both in terms of product quality and service delivery at the manufacturer's end. Some other guy here talked about the best-of-breed welds they perform. I would also add the long-long development time it took them to deploy a system that among others accounts for the +16bhp power gain and the tiny-tiny details such as the universal joints they include as to make their system stand apart. :clapping: Now, ~4k km with my new gadget on, I can clearly reassure you that the standard engine performance has been successfully revised, let alone the +16bhp you get and the built-in sound enhancement particularly in the low rpms. The 'black-power-hole' of the engine between 2,5 and 4 thousand rpm is out of question, thus eliminating the annoying downshifting at the time you instantly need significant amounts of power delivery. The engine breaths much more efficiently due to the 100 cpi catalysts and the larger diameter pipes comared with the stock system. Not only does the engine plunge easier into the red zone even with the fifth or the sixth gear in the play, it also makes the other 997 drivers questioning 'how and why' their cars are left behind. Only X51 kit owners can go a bit faster at much greater price. As many others here, I've been driving cars since I was 14 years old. What's more I used to be professional test driver for the greatest part of our national automotive magazines having experienced almost any exceptional road machine up to 2002. Nonetheless I have to admit that never before had I noticed a third-party system outperforming in such a great manner the original one. Think I should stop right away, otherwise as this is my first post I'll be accused of being associated in some way with the manufacturers. Truth is I don't, so please feel free to visit www.rennteam.com for more testimonials and meet many other happy Europipe owners across both sides of the Atlantic. In any case I can send loads of pictures showing the operation and answer any related questions.
