  1. go to tirerack.com. check "survey results" and "test results" under any that fit and they will list and compare all including noise. I'm in the minority but I prefer continentals over michelins. Interesting, I thought I was the only one. I always prefered the continentals over the michelins on my M3. I just felt like I was more in tune with where they were about to break traction and I had a much easier time maintaining a controled drift when the rear would step out. I have the michelins on my new 997. Only 250 miles so far so I havent really formed an oppinion yet but when it comes time to order new tires I'll probably try the contis because I liked them so much on the M3.
