  1. Congrats on a major achievement. How long did it take to get there?
  2. Not that I want to draw focus from the nitrogen vs air thing, as fascinating as it might be, but what are the determining factors in establishing the ideal tire pressure? Reading this thread I'd have to guess a combination of how the tires feel going down the road, and how they wear. Anything else? I'd appreciate an answer before the air vs NOS explodes. And Statman, you crack me up. Here and on other sites. Thanks.
  3. I posted this on www.PorscheAndGear.com and thought it was a good reply to this thread. I drive a Porsche and ride a Harley and I have been waving to others who do the same for almost 30 years. Most Porsche owners do not respond, most Harley riders do. But I am finding that fewer of both are responding over the years. My theory is that the older vehicles took more personal involvement to buy and to keep on the road. The newer ones (Porsches and Harleys both) take less personal and technical commitment but more of a financial one. They are both getting so much more sophisticated and expensive that fewer enthusiasts can now own them. I'll keep waiving even if the others do not respond. I figure it reflects poorly on them, not me.
  4. My 996tt does the same thing and I have been told not to worry. Although it does get your attention each time you start it up and look back to see smoke. Congrats on your new car and good luck with it.
  5. If you can, drive them both and then decide. Either would be an excellent choice. Personally, I bought a 996tt last year and think it's an amazing car. You might too if you drive one. Good luck either way.
  6. Hi. I am new here at RennTech and have been pretty impressed with the quality and quantity of information I have read so far - so I registered and am making my first post. I have owned Porsches for almost 20 years and currently drive a silver 996tt, which I bought last year and am still getting to know. I have also been visiting other on-line Porsche sites, including 6speed.com, Rennteam.com, and the new PorscheAndGear.com, so I am learning my way around this on-line stuff. Very helpful. Thanks for all the help and anticipated friendship.
