Hi,
It was -2c this morning and windows frosted shut. I don’t drop the windows until defrosted but as soon as I opened the door
there were 5 loud thumping noises coming from door down near where the Bose speaker lives. After the windows defrosted
I tried the switch and nothing. Not sure if this would indicate motor or regulator or even just the switch? From the noise I would guess
It’s the motor but the window still drops and lifts properly on opening/ closing the door? Anyone had this before?
thanks Barry

Hi,
I went to my dealer yesterday and asked about the paddle shift wheel. He says it is available in sea blue. I think this is the right colour as my sticker code is FE But... I have one of the 2009 sales brochures for the car and they only show ocean blue. My question is : are ocean blue and sea blue the same or did they just change the name?
Thanks, Barry C2S PDK

hI,
I'm just about to get a 997.2 C2S PDK and I see they Porsche can do a paddleshift wheel for this. My question is what is the diameter of this wheel as legroom is a bit of an issue (6' 5")?
Im ok on room with the existing multifunction wheel but that is slightly square at the bottom so I'm hoping the paddleshift wheel is a slighting smaller diameter.
The item I'm looking at is 997 044 402 17. Also my car doesnt have sport plus so is the wheel still compatible?
many thanks, BARRY

Hi,
I just went out for a short trip today and noticed that the speedo / trip computer screen is now blank.
Could this be a fuse? The mileage display and oil display are ok so would they all be on the same circuit?
thanks, Barry

Hi,
can anyone tell me what this wire is for. I removed the front pu for respray and
the wire was taped right across the hood from one headlight to the other.

Here's my favorite mods in order
1.New convertible top with glass window
2.Aluminum gauge rings
3.Aluminum pedals.
4.Led clear 3rd brake light
5.Clear led side markers
6.K&N filter
7.Steering wheel crest
KL
Does the steering wheel crest just glue on? I may replace mine as for some reason it only has one red stripe and the rest are gold and black.

Hi,
I'm 6.5 and I found that removing the lower centre console and replacing with the console delete
kit ( as per gt3) helped a lot as it gives more room to splay your leg out.

Hi gang,
I just had an annual service done and was advised of an oil leak.
They said it could trigger a CEL.
I gave them the go ahead to do it but can't find any labour charge relating to
it. They have fitted 996.107.237.52 and 2 hose clamps. Where abouts on the
car are they? The 996.107.237.52 has a brief description as BELLOWS FO.
Thanks.

Thanks scrawf, that makes it much clearer for me.

Thanks Loren, so does the old unit just unbolt when the cables are released?

Perfectly normal for a 996 and possibly all 911?
-
I personally think going thru this procedure cheapens up the cars interior. Not trying to hurt anyones feelings. The car has enough carpet trim as it is. Just my opinion.
I agree that it doesn't look great but it is a tidy solution and helps a great
deal if you have long legs.
-
There are no wheel arch liners behind my rear tyres. Is this normal? Does the GT3 kit have anything to do with tihis?
I don't have any either, so I think this is common. I do have a GT3 kit but I'm
not sure that it's specific to that. I think it's more to do with the fact that they
might melt being near to the exhaust box's !!

996 Engine Failure
I would like to try and start a log of all the failed 996 engines to see how many there really are.
By the power of the internet, we could see if this is a significant problem or not once and for all.
I don't want to go off half cocked so would welcome any views as to how best to go about this.
see here, something similar has been running a while - http://www.petrolheads.co.uk/gassing/topic...=0&t=400915
-
Has anybody seen the instructions to do this on a 987?
I want to get at the small compartment in the center console so I can mount a switch but I can't figure how to get the trim off around the shifter and the pieces that wrap around the lower portion of the center console at the bottom?
Thanks!
The trim at the lower (both sides) of the center console are located with push in clips and can
be prised off easily (no screws)
To remove the gear shifter trim see here

I just did this on mine. pretty straightforward if you follow this:
Window motor or regulator?
in 997-1 Series (Carrera, Carrera 4, Carrera 2S, Carrera 4S)

Thanks for the reply. If it’s just the switch it makes sense as it had been playing up a bit since I got the car in August.
it needed 2 or 3 attempts to work.
