Thanks Toolpants! The rear sensor does look the same (Did'nt think there were 2 of them). I tried to disconnect the plug from it but its awkward to disengage the retaining lugs & get a good grip to pull it off. I don't want to break it off :-) But I will check out the front one tomorrow, maybe it was disconnected? I'll keep you posted. I have to take the car back in 2 weeks for a warranty repair, (slight coolant seepage at the LH cyl head gasket - apparently a known fault?) so if I still can't fix it my shop will. They are really good, Raffay Porsche Hamburg Nord, recommended to Porsche owners in Northern Germany.

Just had 80000 km service carried out. Drive shaft boots were also renewed as they had split. I noticed later that when I switched my headlights on (Lictronic - Factory fitted) the auto levelling function did not work, i.e. the beam normally moves up when the headlights are initially turned on. Consequently the headlights are set too low on dip beam. Does any one know how the self levelling actually works? I know that it is a requirement with this type of headlight to prevent dazzling oncoming traffic due to their brightness. Would I be right in assuming that a load sensing valve/switch located on the rear suspension operates the auto levelling setting? Any one got a wiring diagram? I suspect that something has not been re-connected following the work on the rear drive shafts..? Or any other ideas? I have manually re-set the height of the dip beams but would rather "do it right." I have had both headlights out & they are fine, fuses all ok. I will be going back to my Porsche workshop if all else fails.

My calipers are in need of some re-touching to the red coating which has begun to flake off leaving a matt red coating. I've seen recommendations for Testors Model Paint Red #1103 as a touch up possibilty. I am not sure however if this will stand up to the heat generated during braking, and living in Germany those 160 mph speeds are irresistable! :drive: Any thoughts? It really spoils the look of the car, but new calipers are really not an option.

Just to let you guys know I bought the relay from SmartTop & it works perfectly. Cost for the relay was €238 incl P&P, delivery was within 1 week following a money transfer order. I'm well pleased :clapping:

Anyone know how to modify the roof electonic controls to enable roof to be lowered or raised whilst driving at low speed (like the 996 cabrio models)?
