  1. On my 1998 986, I had a mechanic adjust the travel of the brake pedal - if I recall correctly, there is a shaft that is accessible underneath the brake reservoir. I absolutely loved the change - you had to push the brake pedal very little to get pad engagement.

My new to me 981 has pretty long travel with the stock pads. Is this still something that can be adjusted?

  2. I have had this issue for a couple years. The main symptom is that, after driving awhile, and especially on less than half a tank, there will be a moaning sound coming from the gas cap. If I remove the gas cap and open the fuel filler, air will rush in. The other issue I'm having is that, on cold starts, the car will kind of buck like the fuel is cutting out - it goes away after a couple minutes when the car is warm.

I have already changed the valve on the gas filler neck and the valve on the charcoal canister, but neither fixed the issue. I'm now targeting the fuel vent line connected to the throttle body, but having read other posts, it seems like that one generally causes issues with fueling and with hot starts, neither of which I'm having.

    Ideas?

  3. Following up on this thread from three years ago:

I changed  996.605.201.01, but I still get a very loud, throaty noise when I drive for long distances. I finally decided to take the car apart again today, and darn it if I can't figure out where 996.605.213.01 goes. Everyone says it's behind the headlight, but I don't see anything. Here is what my car looks like. Should I be changing the part with the orange cap just behind the filler (http://www.pelicanparts.com/techarticles/Porsche-996-997-Carrera/106-FUEL-Replacing_Your_Fuel_Line_Vent_Valve/106-FUEL-Replacing_Your_Fuel_Line_Vent_Valve.htm).

  4. I have a 2009 Cayenne that, the day it hit 60,000 miles, started getting a serious thumping under the center console. I ordered the new EPS bearing and took it to the local Porsche shop.

They removed the driveshaft and installed the new rubber front and the new bearing. However, the car is still shaking somewhat right around 30 mph. I suspect they did not reinstall the driveshaft the same way it came out, and it is out of balance.

Couple questions - does that sound reasonable? How would they rebalance the driveshaft? Or, do I need to replace the driveshaft as well?

  5. I know that this has been discussed before, just looking for some BTDT stories.

Sounds like Phillips is the way to go:

What options should I pick? Probably go with 4200K as I want as white a light as possible. Do I need a relay cable? I assume not, since I don't think the 98s have the fancy sensors that care about headlight wattage.

Anyone use this kit and have tips?
