  1. That message means that the phone module is not installed. Most people do not use the factory module in these cars, as it requires that you swap the SIM card from your cell phone to the PCM tray in the car every time you want to use the system, or that you get a separate SIM card (with a different phone number) for the car. Either way is a pain. There are a number of aftermarket phone units that integrate very well with the factory PCM controls, and provide blue tooth functionality with your regular cell phone. NAV-TV and Dension are two names that come to mind. Look for them in the net and you should find a dealer/installer close to you without difficulty.
  2. Congrats! Are you in NJ? Many, many moons ago I bought a 944 from Paul Miller in Parsippany. How did you like dealing with them? Enjoy the new car on the many great roads in the State.
  3. I went from an '01 Boxster S to an '06 Carrera S Cabriolet. Differences? The Boxster is and feels lighter to drive; it feels more "tossable" and agile than the Carrera in normal driving. However, the Carrera surprises as you get more spirited. The more you ask, the faster you go, the more it responds. I take it for granted now that the car will keep up with me no mattter how hard I drive. It has more power than the Boxster and you feel that right away; the push in the back is noticeably stronger. While the Boxster is entertaining, the Carrera is serious about its business, and you have to drive it in kind. Whether you like that "seriousness" or not, only you can decide. That being said, I know that my wife would not allow me to buy a car without heated seats... :)
  4. FWIW, on Boxsters, if the steering made a popping noise when turning the wheel right or left, the cause has sometime been traced to worn out shock strut mounts. Replacing the rubber bushing in the mount usually aolved the problem.
  5. 997C2SCab, Afer reading your post above, I went out to the garage and tried the phonebook feature of the TOOKI. My unit downloads all the phone numbers for a contact. The only shortcoming is that there's no indication of which number is home, or cell, or work, etc. I see the contact name, and the phone number itself. One possible way around this is to include the phone number type in the contact name.
  6. JFR0317, Thank you for posting your experience with the TOOKI bt adapter. I had been looking for a well-integrated aftermarket unit, and thanks to your info, I now have satellite radio as well as bt telephone in my car, an '06 C2S Cab. I live in Houston, so I went to Custom Car Stereo as well. Very good service. The units work great, just as advertised, and the look and feel of the system is very much "OEM". Once again, thanks.
  7. My '06 C2S Cab also came with Pirelli P-Zero's as OEM tires.
