    Hi, I am planning on doing the OBC hack, I read over the OBC hack page, and the wiring seems pretty simple. My questions are about the switch? If I use the fool well light switch will the light on it illuminate? What is the backlight function people talk about using the 996TT switch for? Where can I get the FWL switch? (Sunset doesn't have them) Could I use a blank switch the one pictured below? Where can I get a blank switch like this? Also, I am going to do the spoiler switch hack as well. Does anyone know where to get a left tilted gloss spoiler switch? Thanks! EDIT:

    I searched iPod, and could not find the answers to my questions. I have a 1999 Boxster, with a CDR-220.

    There is pollen (cabin) filter on the left of the battery compartment, not the side you are taking about, and the trunka is water tight from the battery, and mesh grills. You should be fine.

    Hi, I bought the becker aux input a few days ago and installed it. I have two questions, What purpose does the phone connection serve? And what is the blue wire? Second, I have decided to hard wire the iPod in with two input sources. The diagram below explains what I want to do. My question is: Do I hard wire the power into the cables coming out the back of the radio that are woven together? If not, what do I wire the power to that is toggled with the ignition? Also, can a headphone splitter be used both ways, to take two inputs to one output? Thanks! :) First, the setup would like to do. (sorry, I am no artist, and note the white RCA plugs, and iPod outline that are cut out by a white background. Second, the cable I would like to use.

    I got mine from epiq, it works great, but is only the stereo jack.

    I posted in another forum the only questions I have left are: Is it normal to hear the soft top shifting while it is up, when you drive over a bump? What are the metal clips mounted on the underside of the seat for? Does a piece of plastic mount there? (refer to picture) Could I paint a nonsmokers tray myself with touchup paint? How do you repair peeling radio buttons (on/off)? (Besides replacing the faceplate)

    Hi, I've got a few more questions about my '99 boxster, I am a new owner and am looking to learn as much as I can about my car. I appreciate all of your answers. Is it normal to hear the soft top shifting while it is up, when you drive over a bump? Do the porsche OEM dash cup holders work well or is the ultimate cupholder better? How hard is it to move the a/c to the lowest console position? Where can I get an arctic silver non smokers tray or how can I paint it myself? How do you repair peeling radio buttons (on/off)?     I have this piece sitting in my car. I got when I purchased the Boxster, and have no idea what it is. Sunset Imports website says it has something to do with the right / left seats cover. Any ideas? Thanks

    The raggtopp kit is aerosol, I like the paint on application like the renovo ultra proofer.

    Hi, I need to treat my boxster top. I have been looking all over the internet but really cannot find specific answers. I have decided that I need a soft top cleaner, waterproofer, and vinyl window cleaner. Is this correct? Next, do the Renovo Ultra Proofer, Cleaner, and window cleaner work? Lastly, could you completely remove the soft top from the car permanently? I am going to get a hardtop and if I want to put the roof down I don't need a top, could I gain some storage space? Thanks!

    One more tip if you are really concerned with the roll bar you can get a roll bar extention for around $700. Remember that the seats adjust up and down so if you lower the seat all the way you should be fine.

    Do you mean having a button on the key to lock/unlock the car or removing the door handles completely? I have that, on my '99 from the factory, it also opens the rear trunk.

    I would wait until your transmition is shot then upgrade it to a 6-speed. No need to do it sooner.

    You should be fine. The boxster is wide, has wide tires, and a low center of gravity. This all means that unless you are doing 65+ and make a sharp turn you probably won't be flipping it over.

    Thanks, I will definately use premium. The windstop, I made a case for because it didn't have one, and I have decided to just leave it in the trunk when the top is up so I can use the space over the engine. Drilling a hole in it and hooking to the car is a great idea, thanks fasterjames. I am actually thinking of using a deck rack and modifing it to fit a ski rack that goes over the top. I have not heard great things about the techquiment rook rack. I am curently in the market for a hard top, I need to find one before next winter, if anyone has an Ocean Blue one let me know. (It's worth asking) Thanks! :)

    To clarify what I meant was where do you put the windstop when the top is up, because it barely fits into the shelf under the role bar. Also, I was just wondering about the premium vs. regular gas. I know you should use premium but $3 every fill adds up, and I know Porsches are a bit pricey to maintain but it doesn't hurt to try and pinch pennies if I doesn't really affect performance, but it sounds like it does. Also, can you mount a ski rack directly to the hard top? Thanks :)

    Hi, Okay I finally have gotten to enjoying my Boxster. :drive: I have a few questions, I have had it for two weeks and have filled it up once. My question is what do you guys use premium or regular? The owners manual says to use premium but with gas prices the way they are is regular okay? My friend had a porsche 944 for 16 years without any problems and he only filled it with regular even though the manual said to use premium. Second, are $25 Xenon headlights to good be true, in comparison to $2000 ones that replace the entire headlight? Third, were do you put the windstop when the top is down? I have the shelf under the role bar but it barely fits in there. Fourth, can you put a ski rack on the hard top, or is not strong enough? Thanks! :) I appreciate all answers!
