That looks great! Also, a few days ago I saw a post where the manufacture of Porsche leather was posted, so if you can find that, you could color match it perfectly.
You should consider posting a DIY. I can't be too different to do something similar in a Boxster.

My car has also been running hot lately. This is the first I have heard of this hack, but I would be interested in doing it. Could post a link to the instructions your using or post a DIY for this?
Thanks! :D

It would be nice, but I don't think it is necessary. Most hack/mods/upgrades/etc. that require part have the part numbers listed.
@Loren, Thanks for the description, I always wondered what that feature was. maybe it's time to become a contributing member.
Also, you might consider adding a description like that to the, Contributing Member sticky so people now what it is they are donating to gain access too.

It could be. Vfxbox, was selling something similar a while ago with a lot of interest (I would liked to have bought a set), but I think he stopped making them. I might just make my own, maybe you could do a DIY instruction post on them.
Anyway, Nice Work! :D

Where did you get those rings?
I would love to get something like that to upgrade my dash speakers.
-
Thanks, that's what they look like to me. But have been unable to find where to buy just these prongs.

Hi,
I am finally getting ready to do the intermittent wiper hack, with the dash switch, and relay. With the help of my Bentley manual, I know how to everything, and will be posting instructions on how to do this in the near future. The only thing I still need to do this hack are some kind of spade connector. I have only been able to find a picture, so if anyone knows the name of these or where I can get some, it would be great.
Thanks!

Just a note on the top cleaner / water-proofer. If you can't find Ragg Topp in Poland, I have had great results with the Renovo cleaner / water-proofer. They are located in the UK so it might be easier to find.

I'm driving my car all winter. The Boxster is galvanized and has a 10-year rust warranty, so I'm not worried.
I still wash it, but I'll take care of the salt in April. Thanks for the heads up, maybe I'll take the front bumper off.

You could always do this as well, and save about $25:

But how do you keep the console lid from falling forward on your drink when you brake?
-
Eagle Day has them, just google the name.
-
I think these pictures are from cb-racing.com there might be better quality pictures over there.
-
Do you mean you want an old school car phone with a wired handset? If so, can I ask why?
-
I don't understand your question. But don't you have a cell phone? Just buy a headset. If you want the factory car phone you your going to need a lot of parts.
-
I've seen them on eBay for a few dollars. :D
-
Thats seems about average, I've gotten up to 30mpg on road trips, but average about 20-25mpg city/highway. I wouldn't worry about it but you can always check your tire pressure, air filter, etc.
-
I've seen those. They seem stable, but take up storage space. Also, how do you keep the lid from falling over onto your drink?
-
Hey, Tool Pants do you still have the wiper dial hack instructions I would love to see them. The site that had them has been taken down.
I actually emailed that seller as well and had the same experience.
-
I wouldn't worry about the headlight plastic burning. I haven't done this version of the hack but I might, it sounds interesting. You can PM the poster of that and ask them about it or just experiment yourself.

Yes, the fuse in that slot is empty, so you have to add it if you don't have heated seats. If you have heated seats you don't have to add a a fuse because it is already there, it doesn't make a difference. Go ahead and try it it only costs like $1 in parts so then if it doesn't work you're out $1, and if it does work you saved $10.
-
I agree, I do not think there mod is anything more than a rip-off of whiteson's hack. I am consistently surprised that people actually buy them on eBay, for a wire and two fuse taps that cost less than $1.

From the looks of the picture it permanently seals the center console from being able to be opened and closed. Is this the case?

My advice would be to loosen all the adjustment screws, then have someone push forward on the top as you latch the front, then tighten all the screws. It took me a few hours total to adjust my hardtop properly, it took about an hour when I got it, then about two hours a few week later once the top had molded to my car a little better. Make sure you have the caps on the front of the hardtop, The best advice I can give you is to have someone push forward with all there weight on the top so you get a tight fit.

I hate bumping old threads, but wanted to give a little UPDATE the will hopefully help people in the future.
There are two types of RTS (Roof Transport System), the old one and the new one. The old one came with two mounts one for the hardtop and one for the body of the car. The RTS was upgraded at the same time the hardtop lost the, "ears," to include only one universal mount.
I have an original RTS and a hardtop with ears. After driving with the RTS mounted on the the hardtop, I got some noise issues due to the extra weight on the top. So I tried the body RTS mounts (pictures above, thanks Tool Pants), with my hardtop. They fit just fine, I was hesitant because I though because it had two mounts one for the hardtop and one for the soft top, but I was wrong. The ones I thought were for soft top only use, work just fine with the hardtop, and although the part number is different from the newer RTS mounts they appear to be identical.
So apparently if you have an older RTS you can use it with any hardtop, via the body mounts. And if you have the newer RTS then you just have the body mounts, and that works too. I am going to switch to the body mounts to hopefully eliminate the noise the RTS caused through the hardtop, keep the top from flying off of the car if I am ever in an accident, and add a "roll cage" to my Boxster.
CDR 220 faceplate....replacing?
in 986 Series (Boxster, Boxster S)
Posted
As far as I know, the faceplate does not have anything to do with the code. You should be able to swap faceplates without a problem. Also, the CRD220 was in the 986 Boxster's, so this is the wrong forum. 987 Boxster's are 2005 and newer.
