  1. 99 Boxster just hit 117k miles. First clutch replaced at 87k, Fuel pump blew out at 96k and besides little things its been a champ (considering how I beat on it). Little things: -Horn rubber bushings rotted out and would cause the horn to come on when coming to a stop ($5 fix thanks to renntech) -Ebrake detector switch went out ($2 part $3 shipping install instructions found on renntech) -Lost a key (saved hundreds by taking a Renntech suggestions and buying one on ebay and had the dealer program it) -Plastic convertible window started to crack (Covered under my insurance policy "glass" plan) OH and @ Myles, you might just want to buy a used one. My brother just bought a 04 Boxster with 30k miles for $15k. If mine needed that much work I'd dump sell it for $5k and buy another one.
  2. Don't listen to the haters, I think it sounds great. B) Did you notice any Torque loss now that you don't have much back pressure? I'd imagine that the 1/8th open gives a nice balance of HP without to much torque loss.
  3. WOW! Thanks guys, this helped me a ton this afternoon! I just wanted to add three things I ran into. #1 I choose the school of hi-temp silicone, I only filled in the front side of the rubber rings. After it dried out I put it in, and realized it wasn't enough! <_< So I had to take it out and put some on the other side also.. All said and done the horn is allot stiffer to get a squeak out of it, but it's not going off anymore coming to a stop!! #2 I disconnected my negative battery lead and let it power down for 30 mins.. By doing so I reset my stereo! So its asking for a code to reactivate it.. So be warned! make sure you have your code card before disconnecting your battery. Seeing how I lost that card, Ill have to buy a new after market stereo. I know you can look up the code and or go to your dealer, but I was looking for a wife excuse for getting a new sound system ;) . Besides the stock 220 Becker unit is junk and Ill be better off with an Alpine or Kenwood deck). #3 Windows! make sure your windows are down, when you have no battery hooked up you have no power. That means they won't go automatically up and down that inch to avoid the lip. Also when I hooked everything back up my one touch window feature wasn't working. Make sure you hold down the button for each window for 10 seconds in each direction. Do this even after the window is completely open or closed.. it will reset the one touch feature. These are just some things you might run into, a "heads up" doesn't hurt . B) I found, diagnosed, and fixed all these things using Renntech! Great site thanks guys! :renntech:
  4. I appear to be having the same issue... Only my alarm goes off when they go down on their own.. VERY annoying! It means I can't lock my car.. It seems to happen randomly every 4-6 hours, If there is a quick fix (something about taping a micro switch) could someone please elaborate (Loren?). Which micro switch? and where does it live? Thanks for any help in advance! :D
  5. Taking out the motor mount might be overkill. I had a similar problem this winter, I assumed (as you did) it was the rims or the tires.. So I put up with it for a month till spring rolled around and had my summer rims/tires put on and balanced.. So problem fixed right? Well, no... The same thing was happening, I was just about to bring it in to the dealer when my local mechanic suggested I get the wheels aligned.. So one alignment and $70 later I have no more issues
  6. I'd have to agree, having some experience tinting.. I can't imagine the tint holding up to being folded away when the top is down over and over.. I'd go with glass or no tint! B)
  7. Ya, this is defiantly the passenger side. In the dash, and it happens if the engine is off (but the key is still in).. While moving, at a stop, whenever... Hey Loren where is that TSB? I can't seem to find it  I be forever greatful if you could post the link!
  8. Recently I noticed a clicking noise on the passenger side behind the dash. It can't be heard from the outside of the car, and it seems to come and go and at different speeds. Its always the same regardless of whether or not the car is moving, stopped, reving, or the air/vent/ac turned on or off. It almost sounds like a vent or something in the dash is trying to open or move and is stuck, so the motor powering it tries to do it again. I can't figure it out, its starting to drive me nuts. When I explained it the Porsche dealer said it was nothing to worry about. Does anyone know what this might be? Or can anyone thing of any trouble shooting I can do to narrow it down? THANKS!
  9. I have the same issue, it slowly got worse and worse until the brake light stopped coming on all together.. Being the lazy guy that I am I found a way around it.. Turn off the car, then put the key into the power on position (right before you start it again).. in this mode ALL the lights come on in the dash including the brake light.. The computer thinks all is well and lets you raise or lower the top.. (brake must be up) Ill get around to replacing it sooner or later, but as I said im lazy ;)
