    1999 Boxster
  1. I am curios as to what your decision will be, and what others opinions are. I am in similar situation, 99 996 89,000 with the right bank in need of some major work. I haven't had the engine taken apart yet but there is coolant coming from one side of the exhaust. Mechanic wants 2k to take a look. I am not sure what I should do.
  2. I just fainted. How long was I out for?
  3. Mine usually runs that temp all the time. Always has, unless its really hot then it runs a little hotter, especially in stop and go.
  4. 99 Boxster 150,xxx, i bought it with 77,000 in 07 no major service yet cracked expantion tank soon after I bought it, alternator and belt last year (I did it, even local mechanic wanted crazy money), other regular stuff very reliable, now if seats were only cheaper
  5. It's looking good. Keep the pictures coming with the install. Have any pictures with the sub in place? Would you have been able to put and 8 inch sub without going much bigger? Do you have a fan for the amps or do they need one? I like the steath look though.
  6. Did a search but couldn't find what I needed. Anyone recomend a good body shop in and around Los Angeles, Glendale vicinity. It's a 99 Boxster, standard verson, 139,000 miles. Some punk side swiped my Bosxter on the drivers side and took off. The door is screwed along with back panel and so on. State Farm steered me to there website of apporved shops, but I checked out three of them and they each had a couple or more bad reviews. I went to the dealer in Pasadena and he gave me a verbal estimate of being a total loss. Called Beverly Hills dealer and there recommended shop had quite a few bad reviews. Thanks
  7. I had my 99 plastic top replaced with the Gahh sonnendeck glasss top last year. I think it is one of the best mods you can do. Sure the view is a bit less, but the clarity is worth it.
  8. I had to change the ignition on my 99 Boxster and the tutorials plus pictures really helped. I had to remove the side vent for more room at the bottom. It was a pain to get those screws loose. One got stuck about half way out and wouldn't budge. Luckily one side was out and I was able to pry the old ignition out. Then I grided the tip just a bit to get the new one in. I also used about three different screw drivers, and one with pliers. All in all I think the satifaction of accomplishing the task and the money I saved made it worth it. I paid $12 for the part. Thanks guys.
  9. Good for you. Are you planning to swap out the speakers and a sub?
  10. I just had this problem. My horn would work with the engine off, and when the engine was on the fuse would blow as soon as I pushed the horn. Turns out it was the bushing problem. Put in four o-rings and now it works just fine.
  11. Had this problem too. Finally after about a year went to the dealer and bought a new one. Cost about $300. But hey, I got a free car wash.
  12. Yes it happened to me. I decided to have it done. I think it cost me around $500 including parts.
  13. Thanks guys, especially for the pictures. I don't think I could have found it without them.
  14. Thanks. I'll check it out first thing tomorrow.
  15. hitsuji, North Hollywood Auto Upholstery (818)765-0511 did the install. He ordered the top(sonnoedeck, glass) from Gahh, took 3 days to make, and took one day to install, total $875. Oh yeah, and comes with the defrost wiring kit. I still have to figure out where to plug that into. Anybody know where to plug it into? As far as the glass, it actually looks smaller in pictures then in person. I was expecting it to be smaller. Looking through the rear view mirror, it is a bit smaller, but to me not an issue at all. Compared to the hazing plastic window I had, the glass is crystal clear. Hope that helps
