  1. I`ve just replaced the right side window regulator, and when I test the new regulator with the window installed, it`s extremely slow (like it`s meeting a lot of force when hoisting the window). It looks like the window is correctly adjusted, and the battery is new.

    Have anybody else experienced this? Is it necessary to lubricate moving parts and guide tracks on the new regulator?

    Thanks for any replies :-)

  2. Anyone who can help med with the part numbers on item 4 (1999 C2 Coupe)

    Thanks

    Item 4 is listed for the left side as part # 996 505 525 00.

    For the right side it's listed as part # 996 505 526 00 .

    There is also a notation for those part numbers with "01C" added to the above part numbers for "Satin Black".

    Check with your dealer to see what the difference is between the Satin Black and the regular part number.

    Regards, Maurice.

  3. Both the heat and the AC work much better in the 996/water cooled cars than the air cooled cars. As for heated seats, they can be added with a little work, I know because I did it on my 2000 C4 cab. All OEM parts and looks, although you can go aftermarket if you want. You will need tow sets of wheels and tires, the summer tires are worthless in the cold/snowy weather, and you won't want to run winter tires in the summer. Not sure how you would do a block heater in a 996, haven't seen one, but with 0W-40 synthetic oil and good coolant you should not have a problem in the winter. Obviously a heated, or at least protected garage would help. You will love a C4 in the winter with the right tires.

    You should also know that the cost to rebuild an air cooled engine is probably twice that of a rebuilt 996 engine.

    How much work is it to add heated seats in a 996 and what is the cost?

    Is it a DIY tread about this?

    thanks

  4. While I was driving a couple of days ago, the Check engine light came on. When I came home I ran a diagnostic and it turned out with DTC: P1123 and pending DTC: P1125.

    I also monitored the sensors at idle speed, and to me it looks like the MAF is a bit high. One of the O2 sensor is also a bit low (?)

    MAF = 6,65 g/s

    RPM = 818

    O2 sensor 1 bank 1 = 0.155V, bank 2 = 0.055V

    O2 sensor 2 bank 1 = 0.440V, bank 2 = 0,435V

    Today I disconnected the battery to reset the CEL, and I monitored the sensors at idle speed again. Now the MAF has normal readings and the car has been running for hours without the CEL (but I guess it`ll be back soner or later...)

    MAF = 4,37 g/s

    RPM = 695-720

    O2 sensor 1 bank 1 = 0.765V, bank 2 = 0.075

    O2 sensor 2 bank 1 = 0,625V, bank 2 = 0,625

    For me it looks like O2 sensor 1 bank 2 voltage is a bit low, should I replace it?

    I have also searched in the forum and there are a lot of pages regarding the CEL, and P1123/P1125. To me it looks like that in most of the cases replacing the MAF is the answer. Is this the solution for me as well?

    Is MAF and O2 sensor just “plug and play”, or do I have to calibrate it/do it a service center?

  5. The last week the high coolant temp light has been flashing a couple of times. Engine temp has been normal. I have stopped the car and when I start up the problem is gone.

    When the lights came on I had just been driving for 10 minutes and not hard at all. The level on the expansion tank has been normal.

    I have checked for any trouble codes with Digimoto software but there is none.

    What can cause this problem, what should I check?

    If you're checking your level after just a few minutes you may try removing, examining and re-seating the expansion tank cap. If there's a leak in the cap seal it could explain the flashing light (which is a low coolant level warning), and after a short drive the water level may return to normal before your visual inspection. Loren's probably right that the sensor in the tank is faulty, but there's the odd chance that it's a leak of some sort and a longer drive may result in an expansion tank overflow and overheat.

    Mark

    The level in the tank is close to MAX when the engine is cold.

    Both times when I have had the warning during driving, I have stopped the car immediately and checked the tank.

    The level has then been low (under low level) but when I open the cap carefully (due to vacum in the system) it then raises up to MAX again. I have then started the engine and been driving for hours without any new warnings.

  7. Hi

    Is it, or is it not possible to reprogram the OBC (on-board computer) from US to metric system on a 1999 996?

    I have a US 996, but live in europe. And I would like to have the outdoor temperature in celcius.

    I find it strange that it´s not possible to toggle between US/metric on the OBC, when it´s possible on the digital gauges and on the aircon controller.

  8. Hi

    I have imported a 1999 C2 Cab. (WP0CA2995XS650805) from to Norway from USA. My local Porsche dealer has changed speed display and AC to metric units (KM and Celcius), but they told me they where not able to change the outside temp display from Farenheit to Celcius.

    The car doesn't have an On-board computer lever.

    Can anybody here confirm that it's not possible to this change on my Porsche, or - if it is possible - tell me how I can do this change (so I can forward it to my local P-dealer)?

    Thanks for all help
